As the 2nd Person of the Holy Trinity, Jesus was known as the "Word"......the Word of God.....before He assumed flesh and dwelt among us... as John tells us in his Gospel. See John 1.

John 1:1 and 1:10 and 1:14

The Word Became Flesh

1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
