That's tricky. Most people I know who are bipolar swing back and forth. They're down, then they're up, then they are down again. It's like a pendulum.
This is something that really needs to be addressed by your doctor. If bipolar runs in your family you may be experiencing symptoms. However, if you are around people who are bipolar it cannot help but have some affect on you.
Ask your parents to schedule an appt. with your doctor to discuss the issue and to be properly diagnosed.

It may be due to a poor diet which is causing a chemical imbalance, past trauma, unpleasant smells and surroundings, unpleasant parents, not-good friends, or a boring getting-no-where life, and feeling as if you're not getting your way in general (which frustrates everyone).
I had problems with depression and suicide due to my parents neglecting my education, including knowledge about right from wrong, and not having much interesting or helpful to do. I also got mistreated a lot at various jobs I had and bullied at school for how I was dressed and appeared before I was 14.
Later I got stuck in a miserable substitute for a "normal" public high school and had next to no friends and soon after attending that school was bullied by the police off an on a few times. Other miserable things happened including being repeatedly kicked out, but God helped me beat my depression and saved me. I'm still depressed sometimes, but it's not as bad now and I always have hope.
Check the link in my profile if you are interested in spiritual help, which I found has been a lasting and permanent solution heading towards perfect peace. I hope you show the link to others.

my understanding is that it is not necessarily the case that a bi polar sufferer experiences highs and lows. you could have it and just be at the lower end of it ie you experience the depressive end of the scale not the manic end.
however because you are 15 it must be nigh on impossible to diagnose unless you are experiencing seriously low moods. most teenagers are depressed at times, and many many adults do too. as someone else said you should see a doctor, perhaps a counsellor to talk about stuff. you are aware of a family link, so you can prepare for the possibility. until then its best to try and muddle through, but do seek help if you struggle. use the web, books, your family and friends, hobbies....

i agree with the previous poster about seeking a doctor's advice. however, doctors do tend to overtreat and overdiagnose and prescribe medications to people who may not need them so don't be afraid to go for a second opinion. try to see someone who specializes in adolescents.
otherwise...as far as your symptoms, you do have a greater chance of being bipolar if a parent or sibling is bipolar...however, that doesn't mean you will have it. additionally, most people living with BP disorder do not start feeling the "classic" true symptoms of bipolar d/o until they are in their early 20's (the super duper highs, the low lows, the mixed moods etc that are so typical of mania and depression). bipolar d/o manifests in self in children quite differently and the symptoms are often those of ADHD/ADD or intermittent explosive disorder. also kids who grow up and develop bp d/o can be described as very "angry" and develop assaultive behaviors. there is a really good book called "the bipolar child" that outlines this. hope this helps!

This is plain vanilla depression. Unless you have terrific super happy high days sometimes, you've only described the "down" cycle of bipolar. If there's down but no up, it's just regular depression.
I'm leaving you with a terrific source for information and help.

it rather is sturdy your rfile is referring you. you have a specialist evaluate you. Now, they ought to no longer get the prognosis actual, besides the shown fact that it is not suitable that lots, because of the fact the pills are given to handle the indicators, no longer the prognosis (there is somewhat some overlap between diagnoses) it rather is not any enormous deal, somewhat some human beings see a psychiatrist, they only conceal it up or never point out it because of the fact there continues to be stigma in having psychological issues (even however they are rather basic). and likewise, psychological issues are so very own of their nature, whether you weren't apprehensive approximately stigma, you probable does no longer volunteer that counsel different than to help others who're dealing with an identical ingredient. you're very probably to locate a therapy that brings substantial alleviation, so it is thoroughly well worth it. sturdy success!

You are 15 years old. You are a male child. It could "run in your family", but maybe you just need some counciling.
You are smart and can do this.
You need to seek out a professional. One who knows about the condition you think you might have.
Parents, friends, cousins. They can all help. Or just go to your local teen club. Probably someone there needs your help. So you can try to help each other.
It works that way.
Hope this helps.

You have to be elated some of the time to be bipolar. You probably are just depressed which is better than bipolar. Depression runs in bipolar families too.

I'm bipolar through my Father's side. Don't take any advice on here too seriously. See your GP and get a referral to a psychiatrist. You really don't want to be self-diagnosing.
