My kids father was telling me he read in the bible about a man and his son. The son didn't do right by his father or something like that. But when the son return home it was like the father welcome him with open arms and didn't hold what he did against him. I was wanting to know if anyone knows what book that is from. Where I can find it. My kids father was telling me the story saying he hoped that it would be how I welcome him back. Any help would be highly greatful

hmmmmm:

The prodigal son returned to become a hired servant of his fathers, not so the father would kill the fatted calf.

If this person wants you to kill the fatted calf for them, tell them you would rather have the servant.

Don't let the story get twisted into giving someone who does you wrong and comes back a reward. The reward was for learning and being willing to serve.

This is the story of the prodigal son. A father had two sons as he was a wealthy land owner he intended to give equal parts to each son upon his death. His first son asked to have his part of the wealth now. The father submitted and gave it to him. The son sold his land and went traveling.
The second son stood by his father working the farm and taking care of the land. Years past.
One day the first son, broke and beaten down came home. The father upon seeing his son was so overjoyed and decided to have a feast.
The second son was very upset asking why when he left and spent all the money are you having a party for him, when I have been here all the time working and you don't recognize it.
The father said "son, you don't understand. Your brother was lost now he is found"
This is a life lesson you should think about and try to understand
It comes from Luke 15:11 (That's the New Testament)

This parable is in Luke 15:12-32.

This parable shows how God accepts you once you recognize and show behavior indicating you know you were wrong and why you were wrong.

It's in Genesis, the good stuff begins at about 27, but I think it starts at about 20-ish :)
