It has sugar in it....you make it the same way, but before you add the cold water, you put in sugar and dissolve it and then add the water.

Sweet tea has had sugar added to the whole pitcher. Regular iced tea is not sweetened. When I make sweet tea, I add the sugar at the same time that I add the tea bags. It dissolves better in hot water and won't settle to the bottom.

The base of authentic, Southern style sweet tea starts with a simple syrup, made with equal parts of sugar and water, brought to the boil and stirred until the sugar dissolves. It is then mixed into fresh brewed, strong black tea and served over ice. No lemon.
Regular iced tea is made from brewed tea with sugar and lemon added. It is no where near as sweet as true "sweet tea".

REAL sweet tea is regular black tea (caffinated) mixed with simple syrup. You can buy simple syrup in a bottle like bartenders use, or make it by boiling 1 part sugar in 3 parts water & adding to the tea.

And incidentally, anyone who eats or serves bar-b-que without sweet tea is evil & needs to be destroyed. Or at least spend a summer in the deep south !

candy tea is loaded with sugar, in the process or after the brewing technique (undecided). that's rather candy and intensely commonplace interior the south. Iced tea would not have any sugar extra, you may upload sugar in case you prefer, in spite of the shown fact that it comes unsweetened. i'm southern (in case you communicate Florida southern, some areas are some areas are not) I choose unsweetened tea with lemon.

i know up north (found that out on a trip to Chicago), people drink hot unsweetened tea. down south (Texas) we use hot water to steam the tea and the add sugar and cold water to fill up the pitcher we are using. add ice when ready to drink.
