What a beautiful question. It's probably the most important question anyone can ask. The first thing to know is that you have sinned in life. Nothing can erase that sin except Jesus Christ, the blood He shed on Calvary for us. When you realize you have sinned, when you are sorry that you have sinned, and when you believe in the son of God as your savior, that is what it means to be saved.
This is just the beginning of the Christian walk. The bible is the word of God, and teaches us how to live on this earth, the character of God the Father, the admonitions to the ones who believe in His son. It is our guidebook and our hope.
One does not automatically start "loving" everyone. God works on us daily, and He changes us day by day; if we give Him access to our heart *smile*.
I pray to God that you confess Christ as your Lord and Savior and enter into that beautiful relationship that is waiting for you.

Jesus said, "Except a man be born again he cannot enter the kingdom of God." To accept Him means to repent of your sins and invite Him into your heart. Once you have done that you are saved. A seed has been planted. There's a new spiritual life growing inside you. You have to nourish it by praying and reading the bible regularly. He also said, "Abide in Me, for apart from Me, you can do nothing."
No, lol we don't miraculously change overnight from not being able to stand some people to instantly loving them. Our growth in the Lord is a slow process. God's love comes with time. Just stay close to Him and remember that we sin against others, too.
God bless you!
A Christian sister.

It's like growing up. When you first get saved, your a baby. Just like a child, you must learn how to feed yourself, pull up, and stand. New Christians, must learn how to change their language, their living, making time to pray, read the Bible. Sometimes it even calls for making new friends. But once you accomplish this, then you get to where you can tell, when someone is trying to get you to do or say something bad. You began to feel the Spirit of God. Things seem to become easier, your life seems to be taking on a better meaning. It takes time, just as it takes time for a child to walk on their own. Good luck, and Gos Bless you, you already have the rolling over part complete.

Unfortunately you're going to get a thousand different answers to this question from Christians, due to the Protestants breaking away from the Church 500 years ago, and subsequently breaking apart into countless subdivisions.
But originally, being saved meant repenting and believing the Good News -- believing in God and in his Son whom he sent to save us from our sins by his death on the Cross. Once you have believed and are baptized, your sins are washed away and you have a fresh start. You are guaranteed to sin again, but from then on you are a member of Christ's body, with Him as its head, and cannot be lost unless you yourself choose to be cut off from the body.
The way you get yourself cut off from the body is by committing mortal sin -- a sin so bad that doing it means you have made a decision that you don't want God in your life. Even then, however, there is still hope, provided you repent and confess your sin.
You won't start loving everybody, in the sense of liking them a lot and wanting to be around them. There will always be people you don't like. But you have to love people in the sense of wishing all people well, and helping those who are in need, either of the basic necessities of life, or of comfort in times of suffering. You might find it hard to wish an evil person well. But all that means is that you will pray for him to not be evil any more. If you love someone, and that person is evil, that means you want him to stop being evil and be good. It doesn't mean you have to like him or support him in his evil doings.

Christ died for us, meaning that we all will receive resurrection and receive our mortal bodies.
To accept Christ is to recognize Him as the only one who can aid us beyond all that we can do on our own. This is what Faith in Christ means.
God is perfect, he can love the unlovable, we usually can't! If someone is harmful, get away from him or her because if you love yourself, you don't want to have yourself wounded emotionally, mentally, physically, or spiritually.
So continue to live a moral life, always being the best you can be, don't be hard on yourself or others, and study and pray so you can grow spiritually.
Hope that helps.

You must believe in who Jesus is, and accept the work He did for you. Works such as loving others is not about basic salvation, but is necessary for a successful mature walk as a christian.

Beloved, you have to want to accept Christ as your personal Savior. Believe He is the Son of God, was crucified for our sins, rose in 3 days and IS returning to claim the saved souls, take them to live in Paradise with Him for eternity.
When I got saved I was 17. I accepted Christ as my personal Savior and my life changed instantly..
Once you decide that is what you desire, pray the sinners prayer: Lord God, I am a sinner and I want to be delivered from the life I have now. Jesus, in my heart I know you died for my sins and I want you to live in my heart forever....

to accept him, would mean that you would take you belief in god and jesus to heart and try to live as jesus instructs us. you can make it "official" by getting baptizedand join a church, but as long as you believe in christ, you are on your way in your faith walk. The bible says to love others as you love yourself, but its the natural instinct of human beings to hate, pray that god will help to make you more tolerant.
