My daughter will be five next week. She just started kindergarden and already is getting in trouble being fresh. My son was nothing like her so I'm so embarrassed and frustrated to have to talk to her teacher two days in a row aboout her behavior.
I'm trying my best to talk to her and give her time outs as well...
any ideas how to get her to be a better listener and stop the fresh attitude?

Take away her favorite things at home until she can show that she can behave. I am the youngest of 4 kids and we KNEW if we got in trouble in school we would get in twice as much trouble at home because teachers have a hard enough job with 20 or more other students without having 1 acting out.

I had the same problem with my daughter at that age. She is now 13 and hasnt changed a bit. It's even worse now, as you can imagine. It seems that some people just have it in their DNA. My mother always tells me a story of having to come pick me up at nursery school when I was like 3. I was giving little girls back massages during nap time. And guess what, I'm 34 now, and nothing has changed....lol.

I have a six year old girl, so I can sympathize. Have you tried taking away toys or priveleges? Sometimes we will say no tv tonight, or, she can't ride her bike for a week. The most important thing I found was to be consistent. If we let her get away with it one time, our credibility is shot. Maybe try talking to her, and let her know that unless her behavior improves, these punishments will happen, then follow through. Good Luck!!!!
