It's interesting that I couldn't find a single legitimate news article on this! Tons of blogs and maps and videos and pictures, but nothing from AP or UPI or even a local news item! $600k doesn't even pay for a single day in Iraq, which has been estimated at $100 ***million*** per DAY!!! Even if the $600k figure is true, the proposed fixes will also improve the ecology of the area (greenery; solar power; etc), so, I say, go for it! Good for the folks that live there!

BTW, not all such shaped symbols have malevolent meanings associated with them (you think the Socialist Party just made that symbol up? They stole it from others!!!).

Gee, I wonder how much they're going to spend on that symbol of witchcraft, the Pentagon? ;)

$600,000??? That's it?? Pssh, that's pocket change to the government!
Seriously, I've dropped more expensive things than this on the flightdeck when I was in.... $600k is nothing.

And isn't this symbol also associated with Buddhist temples?? I'm pretty sure they were around before the Nazis...

Seriously, coming form the Navy, how can they deny the arquitect?
Ask any arquitect, a plan has to be reviewed and approved before being constructed.
Can we seriously deny the intent of the Arquitect when he himself stresses the 'intent.'

I thought it looked suspiciously like a HOPI Indian or Hindu symbol, myself.

Yes, it's ridiculous. They should just paint the roofs to match the grass. Cost a lost less, and be more camouflaging.
