I am told by many (not all) that the OT was but a framework for the NT, written prior to the passion of Christ and thus its laws, like not being allowed to own more than one goat, eat shellfish, or wear any blend of fabric, are negated by the laws of Christ. Yet homosexuals are still abominations in the eyes of most Christians. This is what I have read when questioning the laws of the Levites.

1. We don't follow Leviticus, Leviticus is OT. We follow the NT.

2. Homosexuals are abominations! It says so in Leviticus.

3. The OT is a framework for the NT. It was before the passion and thus its laws were negated by the birth of Christ.

4. God is Christ. Christ is God. Can you understand that? Therefore, the laws God made in the OT are true except the ones I don't like. Like the shellfish one. Love that shrimp.

5. The God of the OT is NOT the God of the NT.

6. They are the same God, only Jesus wasn't born yet.

SO...

... if they same god and God and Christ and the holy spirit are one, then why was the God of the OT so evil? After all, he was Christ even then. How can you separate God from himself?

A serious question. No offense. This question is directed at those who have responded in this manner. Feel free to answer, though, ye heathens!

What you have pointed out is one of the biggest problems with the Christian religion. However, Christians will not let themselves see this fact, most of the time.

This disparity between the character profiles of Jehovah and Jesus led to many interesting beliefs and sects among the earliest Christians. Eventually, Constantine and the Christian leaders he favored managed to stomp out all versions of Christianity that dared to address this problem, (sometimes quite violently).

The OT is more a history, while the NT is a guide for all soon-to-be-history. You bring up an interesting point, though i don't think God himself would destroy homosexuals if he was just going to change his laws a somewhat short time later. (ps - no hate mail, again just stating fact.)

In the Gospel of John is says the word became flesh and dwelt among us. Jesus said if you have seen me you have seen the Father, In the first couple verses of John 15, I AM the true Vine and my Father in the Husbandman, I AM was from the begining, Jesus came and took on the form of flesh so that he might be a perfect sacrifice for our sins, born of a virgin, died sinless to pay our ransom for sin. He had to experience life as a human being in order to be a perfect sacrifice and do it without sinning. When they crucified him he arose the third day because he was perfect and the grave could not hold him. Jesus loves you very much, being gay is wrong just like any other sin is wrong. Jesus can and will help you overcome it if you will let him but first you have to want to serve the creator of the universe Jesus Christ. He was with God the Father in the begining, not as the son of man but in Spirit, the Bible says God the Father is a Spirit. In John 3:3 Jesus says we must be born again to see the kingdom of Heaven, Born Again Spiritually. Have you ever admitted to Jesus that you are a sinner in need of a Saviour? To be saved you must admit that he will be Lord of your Life. Can you do that, if you can you can be saved right now. Just say this simple sinners prayer and you can start life anew, Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. If you have any questions just send me an email, God Bless YOU!!

If you put God in a centrifuge, you can separate out the NT God from the OT God.

I know this is a serious question, but I don't have a serious answer.

You are right, the bible hardely says anything about homosexuals. It mentions the wrongs of sodomy in the book of Leviticus in the Old Testament, when God placed law for the Hebrew people to follow. All these laws were given to them in order to protect them from disease (AIDS) and such so to prolong them. So that his chosen people would live, prosper and exist until the second coming of Jesus. This is why God demanded more from the Jewish people.

Also Paul mentions something in Romans 1, New Testament, about "lesbians" .. that women should not engage in unatural sex. But that is all that is mentioned. These are stories told to us, for us to take in and relate to our own lives. What we each take from the Bible personally should reflect upon ourselves.

Perhaps, we as Christians have taken this idea too far. I see homosexuality as being morally wrong... but who am I to judge? IF homosexuality is really a sin, God says "repent, and thou shalt be saved"

Furthur... I am a sinner, I have lied, cheated, looked upon another mans wife, stolen...etc. "I am a the biggest sinner of them all" ..The Bible clearly says that these are sins. Yet I have done them, I repented of my sins. I'm a Christian now and have sinned while being a Christian... but don't you see that we are missing the big picture that God has clearly painted before our very eyes.... The message of his love for us! We can nit pick at the bible all we want, choose which sins are higher, which are not as bad... but in Gods eyes, all sins are the same.

I don't know if homosexuality is a sin or not. But I can tell you that it is just as easy for a homosexual to receive Christ into his heart and enter the kingdom of God as it is for any heterosexual. Each person, must accecpt that Jesus died on the cross for their sins and truely believe. Each human must have that faith, regardless, nothing else matters but that. Throughout all the scriptures God has given for us to study, that men grant their entire lifetime to, the most important part is the message of Love!

Also... the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament are the same. He is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Father, represents the creator, Son, who represented him as a human, one here on Earth, and Holy Spirit, who resides within each believer...
There are many things that I can't explain, but I am only human, and I cannot understand the plans or the "mind (if you would?) of God, but I can only have faith... for anyone to understand what I just said, they would have to have faith. Any non-believer can question it easily. But that is where the "faith" part comes in.

Thankyou for a very tactful and respectful question.

Selective application of the rules. The OT only applies to homosexuals apparently.

God was not evil in the OT forgiveness use to be harder to get since Christ died for our sins its not as hard to get forgiveness He was our Lamb sacrifice as to the OT they hard to sacrifice different things for different reasons..Gods punishments and wrath was almost immediate back then to now he is being patient waiting for the time to punish all sinners at once..

Jesus did not come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it.
