he installer put a spliter so that another tv can get channels, but it has to be on the same channel as the other tv. Can I just buy another reciever split the signal to it and then be able to watch dishnetwork on two seperate tvs without paying for the extra room?

what about buying a dvr I read that they allow to programs to be watched at once could i hook up the other tv using a dvr and be able to watch 2 different programs simuntanisly?

You can get two receivers, or you can get a Dish PVR with two tuners. You can use it for two different TVs, or you can use it to record one program and watch another.
call Dish.

Nope, don't work that easily.

You need to run another cable from the dish to the 2nd location, and you still need to call Dish Network to activate that receiver, either with a completely different account or mirror the existing one.

You can't split the Dish signal at the end of the single line and think that the two receivers can control the LNB at the dish without major conflict.
