I'm 16 right now getting ready untill I turn 17(when I will enlist). My parents agree to sign anything they have to for me to join the military. And somebody told me I shouldn't even bother and just wait untill I am 18 because They can't deploy me when I'm 17 anyways is this true?.If it is true if I volunteer with my own free will would there be anything I would have to get signed being only 17?.Someone told me you can't even get stationed to overseas bases untill you are 18 either how long has this been in?.My dad has told me when he was 17 he was allowed to go on the 6monthers(he was in the navy).Any info appreciated.

I already have made the decision.Just like my father did when he was my age!.Even though my parents have the final decision and they agree to sign whatever they need to.My fathers parents signed the papers for him to join. And my parents said they would sign the papers for me too!.

I am a recruiter. yes you can be deployed or sent to an overseas station whether your are 17 or 18. my advice to you is since your 16 i assume your a junior. you wont be able to join the Regular ARMY (full time) til you are at least 17 and a senior. above all ... DO NOT DROP OUT OF SCHOOL!
pick a MOS (job) that your interested in, get the job you want that your qualified for even if the recruiter has to call the "ROC" to do it. if you want more info then contact me directly at my official email address below

I don't think you can deploy until you're 18, so they might end up stationing you in the states somewhere. My boyfriend enlisted at 17 and I don't think he got deployed for the first time until after he turned 18 (he's 23 now); they stationed him at MCB Camp Pendleton, CA (he's originally from the east coast)... About your friends telling you to wait until you're 18, if you're that commited to join the service already at 17, why wait? You'll have a one year head start on your retirement!! :)
But I would check and see with your recruiter.
Thank you for what you're about to do. I have so much appreciation for our troops that they go out and serve our country so I don't have to. Thank you!!!!

As far as I know there is no age restriction concerning deployments. Many people's first duty station is overseas and not necessarily to a combat zone. Depending on your MOS, it's a good bet you won't be fully trained until after your 18th birthday anyway because some tech schools can be as long as 52 weeks long. Check with your recruiter for clarification.

you can join the military when you are 17 with your parents permission but you must turn 18 by the time that you graduate boot camp.
So the answer would be no.

it depends on if your still in school after that you have 2 months in boot camp depending on your mos or job will determine how long your "a" school is but once your finished with all of that and your still 17 bet your but you will be sent PS it also depends on what branch you join

ask a recruiter....but i think you can get deployed....when your parents sign that paper giving permission to join the military then pretty much means the military can send you whereever they want....

at 17, you may not be deployed or serve OCONUS. will you be a HS graduate at 17? because if not, you won't be able to enlist until you are, parents permission or not.
