its a paste with very fine granules of something

the one from my dentist comes in this tiny 'one time' use cup, covered with aluminum foil, and its very thick, almost not a paste

i've asked my dentist to give me some and he did, but i dont like to keep asking.

they are not "retail packaged" and being in tiny round cups tells me they were specifically made for the dentist's apparatus

anyone know of anything similar?

i really like the clean feeling they give

thanks

SORRY but they don't sell these over the counter b/c the grid for these paste are too abrasive for daily use. They are only sold to dental offices. They come in fine medium and coarse. They're mainly used to remove stains that normal everyday toothpaste can not. Also using these paste daily can cause irreversible damage to your enamel.

I don't know what your Dentist uses but PEELU DENTAL FIBERS comes in a flat can from Swansonvitamins.com. It is almost not a paste also. It doesn't taste very good but sure does a good job giving you that straight from the Dentist feeling clean. Hope this helps.

Add sand to your toothpaste? I don't know...

The only thing I can think is maybe that kind of toothpaste is too harsh for regular use? It's like bleaching white laundry - you can do it now and again to keep your clothes bright, but constant use might wear away at what you're cleaning.

But really, I have no clue...
