I have a 9 month old Beagle. She already was in heat about 3 months ago. I just noticed that she was bleeding again already this morning. It wasn't much blood and it was very light in color. I am thinking its something other that heat? I plan on taking her to the vet but I cant get her in until this weekend. Is it something I should be worried about? I also noticed she has been likcing herself a lot the last few days but I didnt see blood until now.

Get her spayed asap! The world has too many dogs already who can't find homes. Plus being spayed makes a dog a much better pet and prevents health problems later.

Snap i also have a nine month old female beagle!!! she is yet to have a season, like you say i think its best to take her to the vet to get her checked out, but im sure shes fine! ours, her name is Brylee did lose a small amount of blood in her urine a couple of months ago and was weeing an awful lot, i thought it was her 1st season but the vet said she had a water infection, which cleared up on its own within a couple of days! So it may be a season or what happened to Brylee. But normally a dog will come into heat every 6 months or so!

I don't recall the person asking this question asking whether or not they should have their dog spayed or for people's personal opinions. That is really annoying. Especially since you didn't even answer the question that they did ask.

In answer to your question, your dog should go into heat normally twice a year (every six months) on average. Perhaps you could call the Vet and speak to him/her about the issue with your dog and seek phone advice before having to pay for the visit. It could just be a normal occurance.

It usually happens twice a year. You should take her to the vet and let them decide what's wrong. I wouldn't worry unless she seems to be in pain. Talk to your vet about getting her spayed. Then she won't go into heat and your life will be much simpler.
