I own a small 7 month APBT who's only about 35 lbs, but all APBT owners know how strong their dogs can be no matter their size. When we go on walks he gets a little excited and he pulls. It's not a crazy pull but it is aggravating when you're trying to go on a nice walk and he's pulling to go sniff this bush or to go try to pick up that stick.
Does anyone know of a good, durable no-pull safe harness (no choke collar) for him?

A great trainer suggested that I get a Premier Gentle Leader for my big guy who was pulling me through class. It worked okay, he didn't care for it too much. Premier then came out with the Geltle Leader Walking Harness, which I LOVE. In fact all of our rescues go to their new forever homes with a Brand spanking new GLWH.

I love my dog's "Easy Walk" Harness. It is made by Gentle Leader, but it is NOT the product known as a "Gentle Leader" that goes around the mouth. This is a self restraining harness that does not choke the dog or go around it's mouth in any way. It makes a huge difference. I still had to train my APBT not to pull suddenly when distracted by a passing cat or something else of interest. It doesn't prevent pulling but greatly reduces it.
I highly recommend it!
Here's a website that shows the product. I got mine from PetSmart and one sized and fitted for each of my dogs while in the store. I further adjusted them when I got home. It took some adjusting for me, getting used to the way the harness works (leash snaps on a ring at the front of the chest) and also, at first one of my dogs slipped out of it when not used to it and balking in the beginning.

Some people will suggest the Gentle Leader harness; but I do not like these simply because they rest too close to the eyes (even on longer-nosed breeds), and I am not comfortable with that. For my GSD, I have a Sporn halter, which stops her pulling immediately. If you want to see it, Petsmart has them; the link is:

Holt also makes one; but I've used the Sporn on two dogs with great success. HTH!!

Try a claw collar for walks. My lab is a total puller and I can't handle her when she wants to GO. The claw collar is great- it doesn't choke them, and it feels sort of like its mama's bite as the prongs dig into the skin to get the dog to comply. Don't leave it on all the time; just for walks.

pulling the dog's neck chocker is a good sighn. pull it as long as you want so the dog will learn to stop doing that. a average collor shoulg be 4 feet and can be retractable and not when you want it.
