I weigh only 106 lbs. I am 43 I have osteoporosis and can't gain weight easily. I saw an endrocrinologist on september 9 and they checked everything. I assume the blood work was okay because they never called. I am not scheduled to go back till december 5th. I cracked a small bone in my wrist by bumping it on the wall. I am taking Boniva once a month and calcium 2x a day what else can I do?

Never assume. Call and find out what your test results were. Don't just take "normal" for an answer. Make them tell you exactly what the results were, and what the normal ranges are. Better yet, go to the office and make them give you a copy of the test results from the lab.

On to your question. Can your thyroid be "bad" even with negative blood work. That depends on what tests you had. you are describing hyperthyroid symptoms. You need TSH, free T3, free T4, and antibody tests. Yet I bet you only had a TSH test. And a TSH test is irrelevant. It doesn't tell you anything about your thyroid. You should go back and have the rest of the tests done.

First of all I never trust my doctor in calling me with the results. some times the front desk people just put your result in your file. so call your doctor. Of course they would not tell you your results over the phone but at least they would check it again if you ask them to give you a call if there is any thing wrong. Secondly your other hormones might be out of whack. i would start some kind of moderate weight bearing exercises to build bone mass, and follow a good diet, you may have to see a nutritionist.

I was certain I had a thyroid problem so I went in and asked to be tested. It came out normal, but a couple years later it was too high and I've had to take medicine ever since.
If your doc didn't call you, you call them! You deserve to know what your test results are, and maybe a dork there just filed them w/o looking.
