Translators use the same arguement when it comes to Jehovah's name. That we are not sure how it was pronunced in English.

To take the most prominent example, consider the name of Jesus. Do you know how Jesus' family and friends addressed him in day-to-day conversation while he was growing up in Nazareth? The truth is, no human knows for certain, although it may have been something like Yeshua (or perhaps Yehoshua). It certainly was not Jesus.

But we would never stop using Jesus name and replace his name with titles like "Teacher," or "Mediator" would we?

Of course not !!!

Then why do they feel comfortable doing that with God's name Jehovah?

What's in a name? Nothing...no one know's God's name...

It's no big deal what we call Him just that we're refering to Him. It's a different name in English that it is in Spanish, German, French, Afrikan(or whatever), Dutch, Japanese, Hindi....etc...God knows who we mean.

If you weren't allowed to use a word simply because you couldn't pronounce it properly many of the people in the Southeastern United States would have to just quit speaking altogether.

All the discussion about the proper pronunciation of "Jehovah" probably stems back to the Jews belief that the name shouldn't be spoken and a related superstition that the "Tetragramaton", (aka the name "YHWH"), had some sort of magical powers.

I'm not just saying that they believed that God had magical powers, I'm saying they believed that the name of God could be used by humans to somehow perform magic.

Very good example. Remember that Jesus in Spanish is pronounced as Hay suse.
Paul is Pablo, so what is the correct way to pronounce any name? We just don't know. The fact is we only use Jehovah's name for Him and no one else.

"Then why do they feel comfortable doing that with God's name Jehovah?"

For observant Jews, at least, it has nothing to do with anything as trivial as whether we know how to pronounce it or not. For Jews, the Name of G-d is sacred and unutterable; writing it out or saying out loud is blasphemy. Instead, Jews refer to "G-d" (not fully writing out the word), or "Adonai" (the Lord) or "Ha-Shem" (the Name).

Interesting query. Honestly I agree with you, however I do know some who choose not to use Jehovah's name claim it wrong to say the name of the Almighty. So they wouldn't apply the same rules to Jesus' name.

I agree with what your saying. I feel like many people do not want to use Gods name because it would in a way disprove other things that they follow. Such as the trinity. You Know that if some one wants to come to truly know God that he will show him self to them. But its very hard to just drop every thing that is so close to ones heart. And truly come to understand what God wants us to know. That's why" the path leading into destruction is many." Don't know where this scripture is. LOL but I do know its in the bible.
