My twin uncles fought for the freedom of South Korea. One was MIA in December,1950, the other was KIA in January, 1951, two weeks later. They were part of the FORGOTTEN WAR. Go to Washington D.C. to see an awe inspiring memorial to those men and women. Don't miss the WW2 memorial or THE WALL either.
Total U.S. Forces lost were 36,940 (I don't know where you got YOUR figures). There are still 8,176 MIA's.
All gave SOME, some gave ALL.
For those who have fought for it, freedom has a flavor those protected will never taste.

It is the Korean War, but if you think about it, World War I was even nastier. 1.8 million people died in a 3 day conflict during World War I and honestly, hasn't been talked about. I honestly think, WWI, should be dubbed the forgotten war.

The Korean War which to this date still has not ended. We are only under a truce with NK. The original stumbling block over a peace treaty was the return of NK military POWs who did not want to return to NK.
