I have seen a picture and it looks great on the walls, but my grandma told me that much red can make people anxious. Is this true. By the way the trim will be white.

My kitchen and dining room are both red and the trim and cabinets are bright white. And I LOVE the contrast between the red and white. It's not for everyone, though, and it took primer plus 5 (yes FIVE) coats of red to cover completely!

Red is a great color for a dining room--and so is red patterned wall paper.

It would be helpful if there is a window in that room so that you can swag it with gold drapes--and a gold framed mirror will also go great in there--if your room is small to begin with, it may make it look larger.

Paint your trim the same color, not white. It interrupts the visual flow of the room. Don't paint your ceiling until you are sure that's what you want. Remember, a light colored ceiling reflects light--which is good. A dark ceiling absorbs light and can make a room feel "closed in".

You should also take in to account the color of your dining room furniture and what kind of cloth or runner you would have on the table for accent. What kind of lighting do you have? All of this is important if you are going to use such a dramatic color.

Good luck with your project!

Velvet red is great if it goes with the furniture, etc.
Suggest using an off white, or ivory trim and ceiling, unless that clashes with other things.
Add light drapes - pale gold or ivory would be nice. You could repeat the wall and drape colors in centerpiece or table runner.

Red is a great color for the dining room because it stimulates the appetite. Go for it! If you don't like it, you can paint over it, or do a faux finish in a lighter color.

Sounds beautiful, except for the trim. Too stark a contrast to the eye, eggshell, more golden, soften the hard lines. Red ceiling as well? Beauty. Warm and welcoming.

Post a photo when you are through, so we can all see the outcome, please?

no no, your trim can't be white - too big a difference - perhaps a heavy cream color would work.
but red walls - wow - i'd love to have them! red stimulates the appetite, which i don't need, lol!
enjoy it - it sounds lovely!
