If the parts are manufactured from scratch in the USA, then the steel (or aluminum, alloy, etc.) probably is produced in US plants, due to union agreements and long term supplier agreements. If the parts are assmbled in other countries, the base metals may come from other sources. Canadian built engines, gears, etc. generally use Canadian or US steel. Mexican built engines are made with US or Japanese produced components.

I believe that most car makers today are globally sourcing their steel. In some cases, they are buying the steel components from another company who manufactures them. Those companies surely are buying steel made all over the world. Ford makes a lot of cars in a lot of countries. I doubt that they limit themselves to just those products made in the USA.

Most parts come from outside the USA, places like China and such. Its just cheaper that way, after all no one wants to pay $100,000 for a car.
