So, we have all heard that Kathy Griffin upon accepting her Emmy said something inflammatory toward God....(I get what she was saying...all these rappers thank God, etc.. for their awards, while their music/deeds are not Godly...a bit hypocritical)

Anyway, in response, this Christian group spends $90,400.00 for a newspaper ad....Kathy Griffin's celebrity becomes even bigger because of the controversy, etc...

So, how many people were helped with this $90,400.00? Why are so many religious organizations just throwing away money...money that was tithed to God?

They took out a newspaper ad! Geesh folks....how many hungry people could this money have fed? Is this good stewardship?

Your thoughts?

I think that what you are trying to say is that Kathy Griffith is great for our economy. She is promoting spending and advertising in US businesses. I think GWB should give her a cabinet position!

This group that you are talking about is not Christian. Did God say that all would be saved? He said the elect. God pays his own bills and takes care of his. If the world wants to spend 90,400.Dollars for and ad. Have at it. Does that concern a Christian. God provides for every charitable donation. This woman did something inflammatory towards herself. She has free will to worship any idol she declares she said what was on her heart. If the ad was payed by this organization they did what was on their heart. God knew before them before the moment arises. So do not loss your shirt over world decisions or controversy. So many religious organizations throw away money on others that say they are children of God and they should be thankful. God directs every ones steps for his purpose. God knows about the hungry people and he said the poor will always be with us. How do you know that the money was tithe to God? Some people give just to be recognized or justified by their religion.

No it was not good stewardship and it was not wise either. Honestly, wouldn't prayer have been just as effective as an ad in a newspaper?

Kathy Griffin is a comedian, that is her job and she isn't even a good one. Seems extremely wasteful to spend that amount of money on an ad over something so trivial. Are the Christians going to become so fanatical that they will soon riot in the streets and protest like the Muslims if pictures of Christ are shown in newspaper cartoons not to their liking?

Once you fall down the slippery slope it is hard to come back up. Please pray and ask for guidance before you react from a place of anger and 'righteous' indignation.

She actually grew up catholic, and her joke was not that offensive (imho). Some people need to either get a sense of humor, or at the very least, develop thicker skin.

I agree, the money could have been better spent feeding the poor or housing the homeless.

I dont think Kathy Griffin's career will be much affected, since her base is mostly single women who own cats, and gay men.

I totally agree! that's a complete waste of that much money...anyone who is religious probably doesn't like or know of kathy griffin anyway so a news paper add isn't going to do anything for them. and people who aren't so religious and can take a joke can laugh and move on. their news paper add isn't going to make anyone become christian.
i think it's a bigger "sin" to waste over $90,000 that could have gone to a good cause than to make a joke about God.

Kathy Griffin and the Christians who blew $90,400 on a "newspaper ad" live in a country where free speech is still somewhat protected.

And yeah, you can feed a lot of starving children with $90,400.

I don't care for her kind of comedy personally. She is a little tacky but who cares what she said about her award. If she doesn't credit God or Jesus with her success then that's the way she feels. This place wasted a lot of money for a full page ad. Like you said, the money could have been put to better use, like feeding the poor, etc. It was very irresponsible on their part. If I was someone who gave money to that church, I would be angry.

It's okay for rappers with lists of convictions that go on pages and pages to thank "god"; but how dare someone have a sense of humor!

some people are more concerned about the use of the name than what gets done by those who give lip service to their cause.

Right wing Christians have their priorities REALLY screwed up.

Ever notice that they NEVER really go on the offensive in ANY serious way on issues that TRULY have universal impact, not just on Christians but EVERYONE. Not even things that are SINS in THEIR own bible. For example:

GLUTTONY & SLOTH- It’s the chief cause of obesity in America. It kills MILLIONS of people a year from heart disease, diabetes, stroke, cancer, high blood pressure all as a result of overeating and laziness. It is also a sinProv 23:21, Ecces 10:18, Rom 13:13, Phil 3:19 and 1 Pet 4:3.- Go look it up yourself.

DRUNKENESS- Thousands of people y are killed by drunk drivers every year. How many families are wrecked by alcoholism? The bible also condemns drunkeness: 1Cor 5:11, 1Cor 6:10, Gal 5:21, Rom 13:13

RAGE & HATRED
Don't rage and hatred break more families apart every day? Plus It’s medically proven to be dangerous to your health. It leads to strife, murder and discord. America has the highest violent crime rates of any first world country. We have skyrocketing domestic abuse and child abuse, rampant school violence and bullying. How come hate groups like the KKK and Neo Nazis are allowed to operate freely and are so un-challenged by conservative Christian groups? There are too many bible passages condemning rage and hatred to list them all. One of my favourites is: Eph 4:31 which also includes "bitterness" and hurtful utterances".

Here’s a big one- LYING. Just think of all the millions fraud cases ALONE in our country and the latest epidemic of identity theft. The Enron scandal, unfair financial practices, fleecing of honest citizens and unsafe and dangerous products being KNOWINGLY sold to us just to make a profit,Think of all the marriages ripped apart by lies, including lying about your sexual orienation. Rev 21:8 and Eph 4;25

My challenge to right wing Christians is: “Where is the mass moral OUTRAGE for these biblical sins by conservative christians? Where are the protests and poltical rallies? How come I don't see them all fired up over THESE issues? Or are you only fired up when it comes to things that conveniently play into your existing social prejudices?”

Half of the Christians in America probably couldn't even read the ad, ironically enough.
