What laws would you be willing to allow me to break? Nothing more than those that would help me make my life better. For instance, if I just wanted to rob you, would that be ok with you? I’d only be doing it to give myself a better standard of living.

How is what they are doing not hurting anyone? The money they suck out of social services and schools alone hurts many. The wages for many jobs have lowered because they take less than legal limits and can’t do anything. The crime in ANY area with a high concentration is higher, and the ID theft is hurting hundreds of thousands of people, and is the fasted growing crime in the US. How is this any different than someone kicking in your door and just taking your stuff? Illegal immigration is hardly a victimless crime.

Illegal immigration is victimless?

Taking jobs, public services and such in your country of origin is just fine. But to nearly 5 billion people worldwide, U.S. jobs and public services are a luxury that for over a century, have been hotly competed for.

If a person comes illegally and takes any of those things out of turn, he or she just wrecked the probability of any potential LEGAL immigrant who's probably much better equipped to contribute to this nation and its economic, educational, cultural and legal structure.

Illegal immigration is most certainly NOT "victimless"!!!!

Most of the arguments concerning this have arisen from scenes of huge, homogeneous clusters of people with ONLY TWO things in common: Spanish as a first language and close ties to ONE part of the world - Latin America

Where there are numbers, there is power; power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

This power-thirst has led to the mushrooming of industries whose wild profits derive from defending what we all know is wrong. Illegal immigration. It's bad for the illegals (and the homes they deserted), worse for citizens and grotesquely cruel and insensitive for those waiting legally for broken promises to be fulfilled.

The only REAL, long-term good for illegal aliens lies in setting their own countries on a path to economic success. Japan did it. Singapore did it. China did it. Norway, Costa Rica, Brazil, Germany, even the U.S. did it!

Has spoiling a limited group EVER really helped them? No.

Don't rob me. I won't let you. I'll stop you for your own good!

I'm willing to let you break laws that do not *directly* harm other people against their will. In my opinion that is one of the few proper roles for government - protection of people from being direct harm.

Robbery causes direct harm, as do all violent or property crimes. Illegal immigration is victimless. If I have to know where you were born to realize that your behavior is illegal, then you have not done anyone direct harm by your actions.

I think I am consistent about this. I don't care which drugs you use, unless you become violent while high, or steal to support your habit. I don't care what your sexual behavior is like, unless you are committing rape, or abusing children. If you can't name the victim(s), it shouldn't be a crime.

Let me be a bit more clear. If you have a problem with illegal immigrants collecting social benefits or sending their kids to public schools, you should have the same problem with citizens doing those things. Now, if the illegals are cheating on their taxes, and by doing so don't deserve these benefits, too, then that's a crime with a victim.

And agreeing to perform services for less money than someone else is not a crime, even if it does lower other people's wages. It might be something that produces a result you don't like, but the flip side of reducing one person's wages is reducing another person's costs. If you endorse socialism, then I can see how you might disagree with me on this, but if you believe in that most American of systems, the free market, then you should accept that it determines the value of a good or service, not someone who thinks he knows what's best or "fair".

Some people seem to think they wouldn't mind breaking a few little laws.
Can I take your car. Perhaps just borrow your Identity for a while.
Not mine brother.
The term illegal is correct as you must be either smuggled in or intentionaly jump your visa to get this moniker both of which take some planning and that makes it a CONSPIRACY. This element makes it a FELONY.
Hence the term Illegal Immigrants.

In MA, Gov Deval Patrick (D) apparently believes in amnesty. A man struck and killed a boy on a bicycle. He admitted to police that he was an illegal and he had no license, but he was arraigned and let go on personal recognizance. They expect he will show for trial on his word. Under former Gov Mitt Romney (R), the man would have been immediately reported to ICE and held for them until they arrived. Then they would decide to keep him locked up for trial or simply deported.

Pfo...you said "breaking the law...in some instances is ok"? Are you serious? Wow. I'd like to meet the person who gets to judge that issue. 99% percent of the time breaking the law is illegal. This includes coming into this country illegally.

I think you need to change this to a civil crime - like identity theft. The comparison is confusing them....

Breaking laws to improve your standard of living without taking anything away from anyone else seems OK in some circumstances. So, no, you can't rob me. If you can think of anything else, be my guest. When your motivation for breaking the law is to get a job, I think the law needs to be re-examined.

I wouldnt let you rob me but I would let you work for me so you can have the life I have. I would let you earn your way in my home so that you can have your own home in the future. I wouldnt close my door for selfish reasons because I dont think I am entitled just because I have what I have.
