Contact your vet, since dogs don't get colds like we do. And do not, repeat, DO NOT give your dog any human medication without asking your vet!

How old is your dog?

What symtoms is his having?

Without this information one could on guess.

Edit & give more information.

well, without knowing what symptoms your dog has, it is hard to say. An upper respiratory infection could cause wheezing, a runny nose, fever, loss of appetite, etc.
Anyway, if your dog is sick, take him to the vet.

Nasal congestion, coughing, pretty much similar to a human cold.
