I would not get upset at all if every business closed down. Sunday is a day of rest, and a day to stay home and spend time with your family.

Sundays is when I go shopping. If a particular business was closed but a competitor was opened, I'm switching over to the competitor.
Now, if you're talking about types of businesses being closed on sundays (car dealership was mentioned here), forget them. There's always the internet (wouldn't buy a car from the 'net, though).

there's no reason for them to close.
Not all of us think that spirituality is limited to 1/7th of the week, nor should people who need the work, or are on a different schedule, be penalized.
in my hometown, a lot of businesses are closed on Tuesdays (Sundays are vital part of the tourist trade), and that's annoying.
If businesses want to be closed a day a week (or more), fine. But it would be a decent thing to see what everyone else is doing, and spread the days off over several differnet days.

Ah, businesses we don't "need", that's the problem. Everyone "needs" different things. And speaking of same, unbridled capitalism "needs" to make money at every opportunity. The only businesses that show an interest in taking a day off are those little strip-mall teriaki places. Who'd have thunk?

It doesn't bother me that many businesses close on Sundays. This is common especially where I live. If they want a day off every week, I think they are entitled to it.

Absolutely!!!!
First - why only Sunday? Jews consider Friday night to Saturday night to be the Sabbath. Other religions might have other ideas.
If people don't want to conduct business on the Sabbath that is there choice. Let them stay home a pray all they want. But do not attempt to force others into your religious model.

Where I live, most of the businesses are closed. At least the ones I want. Wal-Mart and the necessities are still there, but places like Chick-fil-A and local places are closed.
It's their right to do so, but I do find it frustrating. And I am more tempted to go elsewhere on other days for the simple fact that if they don't need my business on Sundays, they don't need it at all.

It is a poor business practice to be closed on Sundays. Being closed on Mondays or Tuesdays makes more sense.
Blue laws should be abolished.

I work at a car dealership in Illinois, and by Illinois law, all dealerships are to be closed on Sunday. This is punny, but thank God, lol
