How deep can you go spiritually? Does your idea of the ideal Christian look more like James Dobson or Mother Teresa? Does the ideal Christian look more emotional or more intellectual to you?

I am writing a paper for school. :P

of course I wasn't talking about physical appearance, just some qualities you would notice in them. I know nobody is literally "ideal", but what exactly are we aiming for? (And to say "to be like Jesus" isn't a very good answer because there are MANY interpretations of how to be more Christ-like.)

To me it needs to be a good combination of the two. Jesus was both compassionate (woman at the well, the adulterer. . . ) and intelligent (talking to priests at age 12, speaking in parables so that the disciples could understand. . .). He should be the ideal role model.

Neither of these people is my ideal Christian picture...especially not the demon, James Dobson. The ideal Christian would be meek, humble, a person with little wealth...a person always giving to others, but never drawing attention to themselves....like below verse...

Matthew 6: 1-5

5"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words

Truthfully, I do not think there are any ideal Christians per se. We are still human and have our faults. An ideal Christian is any true believer of the Lord Jesus Christ, fully in love and committed to Him. They would read therir Bible and pray daily, and practiced what they preach. They would be completely humble, not greedy, not fake or phoney. And to me, a true, ideal Christian would not wear any mask of any kind.

There is no such thing as an "ideal" Christian.... every Christian has flaws... EVERY Chiristian... Mother Teresa was not, by her own words, of The True Christian Faith... there is no typical"Christian Look".... but some "looks" would not be conducive to striving to live as a True Christian.

in my opinion, it shouldn't matter what the ideal Christian should LOOK like, but rather act. I would say that the one thing a Christian should not do is either be goth or emo or depressing, because that isn't really a good witness and could confuse people.

Your question is wrong. It is not the look of the ideal Christian that counts it is their actions or lack of actions that should be used for judgment not physical looks. This is how GOD will judge the ideal Christian: not what they look like!

He would look busy, because there's a lot to do.

He would show care, because there is a lot to love.

He would look thankful, because there was a lot forgiven.

He would look joyful, because there's a lot of hope.

He would look concerned when he sees others in sin.

He would look sorrowful when he is guilty himself.

He would look patient as he teaches others, because he has been shown much patience.

He would look content for someone greater than him to receive the glory!

If you have to look at an outward apperance of a Christian, you will never find one...Christians should be living in thier spirit and that will show outwardly..

Just write that the ideal Christian doesn't look like the flying spaghetti monster.

Period.

Don't say "Jesus", because a Christian is a "disciple" of Jesus. So, I will say John Paul II, for way too many reasons than I can type into this answer. But more for his devotion than his great intellect.
St Bernadette too. Watch the movie "The Song of Bernadette", and you'll see.
