I made a Thai dish recently which contained fish sauce and oyster sauce- my kitchen smelt like wet dog all day.

You know I bought a bottle of the stuff, smelt it and could not add it to my food, I know it is meant to taste better than it smells but I could not risk it.

Just smells like rotting fish to me... my dogs don't smell like that, even after a walk in the rain.

A foodie will say the fish sauce smells like anchovies.

Interesting... I walked into this one Thai restaurant and it smelled like wet dog in there that I walked out.

umm, I don't have a dog so i cannot compare the two, but sure...I do like fish sauce in some of my cooking, but not all the time, it gives a unique tast to salt...

I dont know about wet dog, but it might smell like rotten fish...beacuse that is what it is.
