I want to move to either Miami, South Beach or the Keys. I have 52 college hours completed (towards CJ) and currently live in Texas. I am 26 years old if it matters.
My question is if either Miami PD, Monroe County Sherffs dept, or Miami-Dade Sheriffs dept. (or any others) have their own academy?
I have no idea how Florida works in terms of law enforcement.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Click on the link and look for the agency / county you are interested in and find the information.

Also know, some agencies now require you to pay your own way through the academy and become certified PRIOR to your application.

There is a "police corps" academy that is paid and full time for Florida now as well. Many agencies that hire certified applicants from that academy require you to sign a two year service contract prior to being hired.

There is not any vigour change except field jurisdiction. Usually the City police division patrols within town limits, whilst the Sheriffs Dept will patrol locations inside a county, however external town limits.
