Steps
1Step OneUnderstand that there are certain foods that should be avoided when you make your own cat food. Never feed your cat chocolate, alcohol, onions, pork (including bacon), raw fish, raw eggs, milk or bones. Each of these has its own ill effects on cats.
2Step TwoRealize that you should not feed your cat dog food. Cats require five times more protein than dogs do, so dog food will not meet cats' nutritional needs. Avoid feeding your cat a vegetarian diet for the same reason.
3Step ThreeLimit the use of tuna because of the risks associated with the mercury levels in it.
4Step FourFeed liver in moderation and not at all if you're giving your cat vitamin A supplements. Overdoses of vitamin A can be toxic.
5Step FiveKnow that many cat food recipes are available on the Internet and in books.
6Step SixLook for recipes that are high in protein content.
7Step SevenInclude some small amounts of vegetables in your cat's food.
8Step EightOpt for another tasty treat that calls for the cooking together of 4 oz. meat, two whole eggs (cats can only eat cooked eggs), 1 tbsp. carrot, 1 tbsp. cottage cheese and 1 tbsp. sunflower oil. Recognize that you should cook meat before feeding it to your cat.
9Step NineAdd flavorings such as kelp powder to the food you cook for your cat. Small amounts of dairy products are acceptable, but cats should not drink a lot of milk. Use lactose-free milk instead.
10Step TenCombine some dry, commercial cat food with meat, eggs, lactose-free milk and flavorings to get your cat used to eating homemade cat food.
Tips & Warnings
As you try different recipes, you'll find that your cat appreciates some more than others.
Consult your vet about giving your cat vitamin and mineral supplements.
Keep cooked cat food in the refrigerator for no more than three days.
Watch out for foods that can poison your cat, see the Resources link.

Here is a great Kibbles recipe:
3 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups soy flour
1 cup wheat germ
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup nonfat dry milk
1/2 cup brewer's yeast
1 (15 ounce) can mackerel
5 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon cod liver oil
2 cups of water or as needed
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl. In another bowl, mash the mackerel into small pieces. Mix in the oil and water. Add the mackerel mixture to the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. The dough is tough, so use your hands. Roll dough out to about 1/4-inch thickness and cut into 1/4-inch bits, using a knife or pizza cutter. Mound the bits onto greased cookie sheets and bake for 25 minutes. During baking, occasionally toss the bits with two wooden spoons, so they brown evenly. Turn the heat off and allow the treats to cool thoroughly before removing. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. This recipe freezes very well for longer storage.

I sometimes run out of cat food and can't get to the shop because my husband has the car. There have been many times when he has asked me "Isn't there anything else you can give them?". So over time I have given my cats tuna, cheese, ham, raw mince or any cooked meats that I am cooking for dinner. Just go through your cupboard, fridge and freezer and see what you can find. Anything with meat or fish the cats should eat. Also don't give them just anything for a long period of time. i usually only do this on rare occassions and by the next night they have cat food again. Raw mince is also good to give your cat now and again anyway, regardless if they have cat food or not.

Go to your local vets office and ask if they have some kitten kibble sample packs. Explain to them your need. You can also visit your local ASPCA and ask for thier help. If you can scrape up a dollar, dollar tree/dollar general may have cat food.
Above all, keep track of your budget and plan ahead. 2 growing kittens need lots of care, attention and food.

Try to find your kittens a new home. You need to make sure that you can take care of yourself before you take on the responsibility of other living creatures.
It is not fair to them if you cannot afford to feed them.

if you have sardines in a can i suggest that you heat em up with the tomato sauce and a little salt and cooked anchovies mash it up finely and your cats can eat it...alternatively you can mix cooked rice, carrots and mashed sardine or vegetables should be finely mashed...suggested veges celery,carrot,potato,peas...remember to boil them up and mash them before mixing to cooked fish, water and salt
its alway 2parts fish,1 part cooked vegetable, quarter part water and pinch of salt...mash them up and let your cats enjoy their varieties of feasts
if your house is totally empty and out of drystores i suggest you start fishing ...when you get the fish...steam or boil em and mash it up mix in a little salt and water...the cats will eat it...don't worry...i have four cats at home...i know this works
