Been there, and tried to get people to fight it. Unfortunately the immigrant population who I was helping refuse to bond tog ether like those who are born here. One of the reason I feel immirants are brought hee is that they are less likely to fight authority and allow a racist environment to continue.
TO those who feel profiling is OK, remember all the Pro-amnesty calling White people racist. THat is a form of racial profiling and I try to fight that. Racism from both sides is unacceptable.
To bad I'm here late and only one or two people will see the last remark.

I am. I don't get the perks some skin colors do, especially if I go to a different part of the country. I get no special job considerations, & no special treatment at all. I got stopped driving thru one area one time, in my own state, near where i lived, because of my skin color. The cop wanted to know what I was doing going thru that area. It was a main road leading to a highway. I am white.

This just happened to my son. He's 14.I have a hard time saying what happened to my son was racial profiling. He fit the description of who they were seeking. So I feel it was justified tho it confused him. If however they would have just stopped him for no reason and made some of the comments to him they did I might be ready to scream racial profiling. That's a careful path treading down that road.Circumstances mean a lot in these situations.

Profiling is a necessary evil in places where most crime is perpetrated by people that fit a certain description ( whatever description that may be)
It's not about discrimination it's about protecting the public.
If I live Yahoo ville population of 400 and the last 20 out of 30 crimes were committed by Green Meanies- guess who I'd be looking at with suspicion every time I saw one.

Stereotyped and profiled ---nothing. Harrassment is illegal and I'd probably file charges if I were harrassed for any reason. However, harrassment has a very finite definition in the law. Harassment is defined as "a course of conduct directed at a specific person that causes substantial emotional distress in such a person and serves no legitimate purpose" If it "serves no legitimate purpose", I'd say sue...otherwise it's ridiculous to let something like that matter.
Seriously, why dwell on something as inconsequential as this usually is.

I would take it up with a lawyer. (We have five in our family) I was pulled over at a place where law enforcement had set up a road block. They were looking for some drug traffickers. I gave my permission to the search and had a dog sniff my car, then was on my way. I must have fit the profile of who they were searching for. I was driving a nice car, had sunglasses on, and was on my way back from my Grandfather's funeral. Did I mind? No. I was glad to help. I hope they caught whomever they were looking for.

There is a difference with racial profiling. If they are looking for a SUSPECT, or a VEHICLE matching the description of a CRIME of some sort. That is NOT racial profiling.
Where as if they asked you for your Green Card. That IS racial profiling.

I am only stereotyped because of my age, weight, hair length, national origin and level of attractiveness. But not skin color.
Does this make me different?
