I keep having dream or maybe a nightmare of being in a war situation and they are so realistic, many of my friends are in my dream/nightmare, some nights I'm afraid to go back to sleep after such a dream/nightmare. Could my dream/nightmare be a vision in to the future or could it be something else?.

No dreams are not a prediction of the future and psychic info never comes through dreams while a person is asleep. This almost certainly means you are spending too much time watching TV so your thoughts are hugely dominated by what you have seen, whether in a news broadcast or a movie. The message is to do something more constructive with your free time and put more time and effort into work instead of being so lazy, as well as telling you you need to take more physical exercise, such as going on road runs instead of staying home and watching TV or spending so much time on the computer which is so bad for your health and well being!.

You've been watching the news and instead of tuning it out you've heard and seen what is going on in the world. It worries you. Your logical faculties are telling you that what is so prevelant elsewhere could come home to here.
You are not seeing THE future, but your logic and imagination are playing an image that reflects your inner assessment if those fears are realized. It is a future that you can imagine, that you can comprehend. Again, this isn't a psychic scene, so don't go hang out the "prophetic dreams" shingle next to the palm reader downtown. But it is YOUR assessment of what the future may hold, based on what you gleaned from the media. You are looking into the future as far as your own imagination will take you.
One thing I sometimes do, is sort of 'priming the pump', just before bed, I go to youtube and play some of my favorite music or search for scenes of something pleasant or familiar. This gives your mind a context when you drift off to sleep. Don't try to force a direction, that often doesn't work, frustrates sleep or is swiftly abandoned for other subjects when you do drift off. You are okay. Don't worry about it.

It means that you have something on your mind and you have a dream or nightmare, not necessarily about the thing on your mind but you are thinking a lot before you sleep, other than that it means nothing , its just a dream, don`t try to find hidden meanings, that's rubbish.

You're not offering enough details of the story line to get a good interpretation. The more detail you can offer, the better your interpretation will be. Who, what, where, how, and why, just like a story. "War situation" is vague, and you don't say what your friends are doing, which side they are on, if they're on the same side as you, who you are fighting, if you're not fighting, but being attacked..... a dream is a story you tell yourself, about yourself.... so tell us a story, I've got my bunny slippers on :)
(sounds like you are under stress though, but the nature of it or what your friends have to do with it, there's not enough here to go on...)

your dream shows conflict. whether in your personal life, work life, or relationships you are having unrest and inner turmoil which is being released in your dreams. dreams are a great way to process info and to work out problems that you hide from in real life. don't be afraid of your dreams. they are possibly a path to the future if you allow your dreams to lead you.
