LOL. The fact that we "do not believe the bible" is one of the very good reasons that we SHOULD be taken seriously. Here check out these bible 'truths'...
* a universe in which all that exists are the earth and heaven
* solid 'firmament' structure (the sky) separating the earth from heaven (terrarium earth)
* talking snakes (with legs) and donkeys
* shepherd staff turning into an asp
* demons chased out of people and into pigs
* woman turning into a pillar of salt
* friendly spirits
* evil spirits
* walking on water
* multiplying loaves and fishes
* food falling from the sky
* conception by a child-molesting ghost
* people raising from the dead
* the sun stopping in its tracks
* parting the sea
* people being bodily sucked up into heaven (which, by the way, lies on the 'other side' of the sky)
* world-wide flood that drowned the earth to a depth of 40 feet above the tallest mountain
* creating people from dust bunnies and ribs
* magical tree of knowledge
* invisible, magical sky-fairy (god) speaking from a burning bush
* ritual cannibalism, by eating god in the form of a cracker (thank you Sam)
In a sane world, anybody running around spouting ANY of that nonsense, would be locked up in the State Farm for the Funny. Apparently, though, mass insanity seems to convey some sort of free pass.
On top of all THAT, you believe that a cosmic Jewish zombie, who is his own father, can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced, by a talking snake with legs, to eat a piece of fruit from a magical tree... (etc.)... and that there is something horribly wrong with people who ARE NOT so gullible and droolingly stupid as to believe such outrageously ridiculous codswallop.
Well, here's a news flash, Grasshopper... SANE people do not believe in such nonsense.

"The bible is the word of God, it has been proven."
No, it hasn't. Why do you think that? Oh, wait, I see:
"If it was not there would not be so many of us christians knowing the truth."
Now, let's think about that. Muslims claim the Qur'an is the word of God. There are a lot of them. Buddhists claim there isn't a God, but that we keep reincarnating until we reach enlightenment. There are a lot of them. Hindus believe in many deities. There are a lot of them. Atheists believe in no deities. Guess what, there are a lot of them too! And you know something else? That's an awful lot of contradicting "truths". Too bad for your argument, huh?
"He is givig you a choice salvation, you do not take it then you deserve hell like he promised.."
Yeah, well, beliefs are not a choice, no matter what Pascal's Wager says, and it's not for you to tell people they deserve to burn in a fiery pit.

That's just it, I don't care if you take me seriously or not. And no I do not believe the bible is anything but a book. Hello?! WHO proved it is the word of god? Millions of people believe in Islam many more so than believe in the bible so does that mean they are right? millions of people believe in Santa, the tooth fair etc. Does that mean they are right? Oh never mind, this is like kicking a dead horse.
Oh and by the way, I just love your Christian attitude. Laughing at people you think are going some kind of hell. Is that common among to Christians?

The "rapture" nonsense is not biblical. Contrary to popular belief, the theory of the rapture began in the early 1830’s. It was invented by Margaret MacDonald of Scotland and promoted by Edward Irving. Margaret claimed to have had visions of the second and third coming of Christ. Irving, a Presbyterian preacher, promoted the idea that there was to be a restoration of spiritual gifts before Christ’s return. It was at that time, the 1830’s and 1840’s, when he expected Christ’s return to take place. The date for Christ’s return was set at 1844. The year came and Christ did not return. Nevertheless, many continued to follow the leadership of Irving. He emphasized the tongues gift. This was not the genuine tongues of the Acts of the Apostles, but the phony tongues of speaking gibberish and claiming it to be a gift from God. The Presbyterian Church kicked him out as his movement began to slide into high gear. IF THERE WAS A "RAPTURE" AND THE FUNDIES DISAPPEARED, THE AVERAGE INTELLIGENCE OF THE HUMANS ON EARTH WOULD RISE CONSIDERABLY.

Hello Me.
Your heart might be in the right place but using the Bible to define the Bible is not proving the the existence of God or Jesus. It only proves your belief in God which I agree with although not in the same fundamentalist way you do.
If you truly want to bring Atheists to the belief in God, bring them the truths of God, the reasons for having faith in God. To an Atheist, The Bible is only a book of words. Throwing those words at him or her is no different than throwing stones and will have the same effect. They will walk off in anger, blowing off everything you say.
Threatening disbelief in God with "fire and brimstone" is about the same as saying "my dad can beat your dad". Someone who has never met your dad will not fear him. Speak of the good things God does for you and for others, (And Please, don't go on about Aunt Tilley praying for a new car and winning the lottery the next day). Speak of what God will do and has done already for them and offer to to introduce Him. They may or may not give some thought to it, if not right then, maybe later.
Making someone angry will only push them further away from God and you. Maybe God has his own plan for them. Have some faith in Him yourself.
Look at the tone and number of negative answers you've gotten in the short time it's taken me to type this.
Regards,
Lenny.

Firstly, define proven?? in fact if the Bible ahd been proven there would be a lot MORE of 'you christians'- i would be there for starters.
Sedondly if by 'decieved by Satan' you mean 'accept scientific fact' then Yes, satan's veil of ignorence has been brought over my eyes... unfortunately there is no proof for that either.
Finally you will be with us goats because clearly you do not have the patience, loving nature or forgiveness that god REALLY likes and (knowing other people fo similar disposition) i doubt you give all that much to charity either... oh well i suppose i'll see you in hell- we can burn together!!

What proof? That the bible is the word of God? What is the imperical data that proves this? You can't prove faith. Once you do, it is no longer faith. That's why it is called "faith". Because you believe even in the absence of evidence.
From Websters:
1 a: allegiance to duty or a person : loyalty b (1): fidelity to one's promises (2): sincerity of intentions
2 a (1): belief and trust in and loyalty to God (2): belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion b (1): firm belief in something for which there is no proof (2): complete trust
3: something that is believed especially with strong conviction; especially : a system of religious beliefs
You would have to prove the existance of Satan before you could prove that he/she/it had deceived me.
I deserve hell simply because I was born, according to your doctrine. Explain to me why an all powerful god would not simply toss Satan out of his creation, and protect me from birth?
You don't have to take anyone seriously. I don't believe I have seen any change in opinion in all the questioning in this forum. You hurl insults in the guise of Christian "love". You say I deserve to burn in hell, when you don't know me...for all you know, I saved your life, or the life of a loved one of yours. For all you know, I could be an angel of God...that's because you don't know it all. Even the bible, the "proven" word of God says that you don't...that there is still more you haven't seen, and won't see.
You should take me seriously because I am.

"...then we will see who will be laughing...."
You mean, on judgment day you will laugh at the people who are judged unworthy and cast into the lake of fire to suffer the second death? Huh.... doesn't seem like a laughing matter to me.
Well, let's be accurate, anyway, the Bible has not been "proven" to be the word of God. In fact, most Christian denominations hold that the Bible was INSPIRED by God. That doesn't mean it is the actual dictated word-for-word from God. Inspired, in this context, means, basically, "guided, controlled or suggested by God." Doesn't mean he sat down and dictated it, for crying out loud....

Just how in the name of holy **** has the bible been proven? Vast chunks of the Bible have been disproven. You'd think God would've, y'know, been less mind-numbingly wrong. Or do you believe that grasshoppers (and all other insects) have four legs, that your emotions are in your kidneys, that the earth is flat (and square, no less), and that the first people were made directly from dirt and only died because they ate an apple? 'Cause the Bible believes all of that nonsense, and more!

I find it fascinating that you have "proof" that it is the word of god, when the biblical experts have said that the NT was witten over 325 years and then VOTED on as to what to include and the OT was a compilation of stories from different cultures and changed as they were told over the campfire. One example, the "story of creation" was taken from the Sumerian Tablets, which have been "proven" to pre-date any written biblical text and it is a story of 7 days of celibration for the creation of the earth. You really are another atheist posing as a fundie to make fundies look like idiots.
