Are you trying to teach him standing up? Set him on the potty and show him how to hold "it" down and pee in the toilet. It won't stunt his manhood to sit. Be sure he washes his hands. The hand washing is generally what encourages little boys to make regular visits to the bathroom.
If your 2 year-old is taller than most, and more well endowed than most, then toss a cherrio in the toilet and challlenge him to sink it--this is if he's able to stand and pee.

His aim will improve vastly, promise. I consider any effort aimed at the potty a success, so I wouldn't specifically reward him for hitting the target.
Hang in there and buy some pet odor remover to wipe around the base of the toilet (and walls, and floor, and...)
I just read your note. Our son peed once or two on the floor, but that was it. I think if he's peeing everywhere, he isn't ready.

He may not be ready. What made you decide to start potty training at this time? Some parents go according to when other children are training, or a certain age. You should try when he shows signs of being ready.
Does he hold himself when he is wet? Does he go looking for a diaper when he's wet or dirty? Does he seem interested in the potty?
I realize I am asking a lot of questions but I'm sure you know what I'm getting at. Good luck to you and your son...and your furniture.
Just remember try not to get upset with him when he misses or doesn't make it on time. Let him know mistakes happen and he just needs to try again next time.

It really did help my son to potty train standing up so he could see what was happening and connect the sensations. What worked for him is The Potty Stool http://www.thepottystool.com This stool makes every toilet kid-sized. The handles on this stool make all the difference. My kids potty trained quickly because they were so excited about this stool. They love using the big toilet because they know that is what everyone uses. I like that it is sturdy and safe and got them out of diapers fast. The best part is kids use it for years. Hope this helps.

I'd say hes not ready, leave the potty out and tell him what its for but if he's not doing it right don't push it. My daughter started herself when she was 18 months old, it was my sons 3rd birthday and she did 1 & 2 on the potty in front of everyone, I wasn't ready but she was. My latest son, kept taking his nappy off around 2 years and going to the toilet, but was missing because there was no stool, we soon worked it out though. Don't panic, there is no rule for age, don't worry what other mothers say either, it will do you no good.

ok are we talking an aiming issue or in his pants you are being to vague
when toilet training you have to take the child at least once an hour and sit him on it. worry about standing much later teach to stand when he is older and trained
sit him on the potty or toilet once an hour every hour, for at least 5 minutes each time yes its time consuming but oh well
boys also dont train to around age three or just after age 3
added
when you see he is getting into pee position drop what your doing and run him in there

i work at a daycare and for the boys that start potty training they usually sit on the potty and they have to sit all the way back and we ask them to hold their "pee pee" down so that it goes into the potty instead of all over the place. and first they get it all over their hands but u kinda gotta explain to point it down with 2 fingers and then eventually they learn.

Deevums - he's ready...he just has bad aim. Stand behind him and show him how to 'hold' himself and keep your hand over his to help him aim. At 2, he doesn't have good coordination...it may take him a while. When my sons were little I bought a potty that had a bulls-eye in it...they loved it.

continue using pullups for now until he can get it right...but the rewards thing really helps. He might be too early also...my son was closer to 3 when he potty trained.
For my son it was stickers...I'd put a sticker on his arm or he could put it on his dresser in his room or on a toy...just stupid little stickers that don't cost a lot...crayons, elmo, popcorn...etc. The candy might also work, but I'm wary of giving my son too much sugar...makes him hyper and then crabby later...stickers are more pleasant.
