I do have to say that I think that using Gods name is very important. But this then would raise the question of what is Gods name. Well some will say Jesus some will say Jehovah and there are many other names that people seem to give God. I personally think that as Jesus said 'be your name" he didn't say 'hollowed be my name'. One day we will all see what the truth is.
1 Pet. 1:3 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!" (Repeatedly, even following Jesus' ascension to heaven, the Scriptures refer to the Father as "the God" of Jesus Christ. At John 20:17, following Jesus resurrection. he himself spoke of the Father as "my God." Later when in heaven as recorded at Revelation 3:12 he again used the same expression. But never in the Bible is the Father reported to refer to the Son as "my God' nor does either the Father or the Son refer to the holy spirit as "My God")

No,
I haven't 'wondered why Jesus put the 'hallowing,"
or sanctifying of God's name 1st.'

It's a pattern to follow,
for praise, also
what is proper to give thx for,
& what is proper to ask for.
It's an example,
not meant as a particular prayer in & of itself, a rote.
We should come to Him not only w/
Reverance, and Humility...but as a loving Father.
With a closeness that is shared,
in such an intimate bond,
of a child & his father.

edit:mrs mom..Hahaha, good 1. That is Rich!!
Jesus didn't say "hallowed be 'MY' name"..
I like that 1!! yah mrs mom!

I remember wondering that years ago. When I learned why, I was very surprised and delighted to finally understand. Of course, the theme of the entire Bible is the sanctifying of God's name and vindication of his universal sovereignty - both of which were slandered and challenged in the Garden of Eden. Until this issue is resolved - absolutely nobody can have any sort of happiness, peace or security.

God's name should be held in high esteem by the person who is entering the Throne Room of the Most High in heaven through prayer.

God's name Is Holy and should only be used In prayer, ministering to someone about Him,or when you're worshipping Him. God will not hold anyone guiltless that uses His name In Vain. Vain meaning:for shock value
or of little value, meaningless. God have mercy on those that do this.

I guess it goes in line with the two greatest commandments, which are love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.

I'm not sure if sanctifying is the correct synonym.

It's more along the lines of honored, remembered, feared, loved, respected, revered...

Above all else, Jehovah's name must be sanctified in all the earth. So every person will know that He it the true God.

Probably because we poor humans tend to go almost immediately into "GIMMIE" Mode in our all our prayers (and, yeah, I've done it too)...we forget that God Himself is the Highest and Greatest One, and that knowing Him and what He wants is the best thing for us.

(Chuckles)

You just reminded me of a Peanuts cartoon...

Charlie Brown meets Lucy with a Looooonnnggg piece of paper in her hand - she says it's her "Git" List - a list of all the things she wants for herself. When Charlie Brown asks her how long her "Give" List is, she says, "What's That?"

Jesus was saying: Put God - and His Name - first. THEN ask.

Because God has a name that is above all names. There is only one name in heaven and earth whereby we must be saved. We must be baptized in the name of the father, son and the holt ghost and that name is Jesus Christ. Never use it in vain and never blaspheme the name.
