and was 60 miles out of town.........will he be able to find his way back home if i wait long enough or should i post some pictures of it and hopefully someone more responsible than me as a pet owner will find it?

Some just assume taking care of a pet rock is easy. Sure they don't eat, poop or need a bath but it just takes one time for you to walk away and just asssume your pet will follow but when you turn around it is nowhere is sight! The main thing is to remain calm and not to give up hope. Your pet rock wants to come home but just can't get there (especially without legs!). Perhaps trace back your steps and hope it hasn't gone far. Maybe a pet rock isn't the right pet for you. Try getting a cat....

I do hope you will find your pet rock. If not, just knowing how much you cared for him is inspiring. One day you will find another rock to love. Until then, listen to some Rolling Stones, and think fondly of your missing friend.

Oh, I'm sooooooo sorry to hear of your loss. Those rocks are alot smarter than people give them credit for. They understand commands, like, "stay", "heel", lay down", "sleep", etc. I would maybe post the pictures to be on the safe side! I'm sure it'll be home soon!!! Good Luck!!!!!

You took your pet rock for granite and now it's off gathering no moss.
Maybe it'll find fame & fortune in a band (guess what type?) and you'll be sorry that you lost such a wonderful pet.

Did you get him microchipped ? or was he wearing a tag ?
Hopefully if someone finds him they will return him to you - make sure you answer the door quick because if he gets excited at seeing his home again he may jump through the window.
