Don't know about the UK but in my own jurisdiction we do pay for certain types of information.

Before a payment is made there must be an arrest and conviction of the perpetrator.

The amount of payment is based upon the type of crime and recovery.

Check with the police who've made the offer asking them to clarify what guidelines are involved.

Best wishes.

There's some guy at work who spends his lunch hours in the car park trying to find ppl with no tax so he can get money for reporting it, not sure how much he gets though. If it was £5000 every time I would have thought he'd be out on the street doing it as a permanant job rather than using the lunch break of his permanant job. PErsonally I can think of better ways to use my lunch time.

No its not true

Sometimes denoucing a certain criminal is up for a reward....but that means successful conviction as well

i dont think a bag of crisps everyday will get much of a conviction

Wish it was true and then we could all become millionaires. I think they were offering rewards for reporting drink drivers last Christmas, but don't think it was £5,000
