Getting ready to propose and I want it to be really special, but not too over the top - not my style. I know my girlfriend would like something romantic, but not cheesy. I am hoping to pop the question late October, Early/Mid November. We are located in Southeastern PA, USA. Any suggestions? ? ?

I suggest a place that you both like and can come back to in the future. For example an ocean bluff. Make sure you have plans for dinner later too.

This may be dumb, but it worked for me over 29 years ago. My then girl friend and I went shopping together in a mall. We went into Penney's to look around. We stopped at the jewelry displays and the lady came over and asked what we would be interested in seeing. I asked my girl friend if she would like to see some wedding rings and she said yes. We went through a few and finally found a matching set of 3 -- 1 man's ring with the girl's engagement and wedding rings. I arranged for credit approval (my first charge account) and we took the rings. Then outside her dorm that night as we were going to say good night, I sheepishly asked, "Well since we have the rings do you think we should get married?" I know it wasn't what everyone thinks should be done, but we have been married for over 29 years. How about taking your girl to the mall and look at rings??

if its late october

option 1:
be cute and dress up for haloween
when she asks as what
say a bride and groom
if she looks suprised
say "were going to need some practice"
and present the ring

option 2:
carve a big pumpkin together
send her to get paper towel or something
then slip the ring in the pumpkin under a little of the guts
lets her take it out and relaize what it is
then poke her cheek with a gunky pumpkin gut finger
and ask her

option 3:
still with the haloween theme
just go on a random date
and wrap the ring like a piece of candy
(like a tootsie roll or something)
say you have something for her
make her say "trick or treat"
when you give it to here say
"heres the treat (let her unwrap it and see what it is),
but theres no trick - marry me?"

i would like never forget something like this
major awwww-ness

Go for a drive to a state park with pretty folage, take a picnic, spend the day walking and holding hands. Then as the sun sets on your day together sit her down on a big rock and propose.

Pre-arrange at a very nice restaurant for the waiter to bring the ring out on a covered plate at the end of the meal, let's say you order dessert, and oops, there's a ring under the dome covering it. Tasteful, make it tasteful.

Make it on Halloween and have some of your friends with kids come in a group and when she answers the door have them all at once ask her will you Marry me!!!

If you don't have friends with kids then just tell her you need to step out and go get dressed up in a costume where she will not recognize you and when she answers the door ..then you can ask her

My husband's nephew proposed like this. He let himself into her apartment before she got home from work, and laid a trail of Hershey's kisses from the door all the way into the bathroom. There he was hiding behind the shower curtain, he came out and said, "Now that I've kissed the ground you walk on, will you marry me?"

What are your hobbies together? If you're into hiking, for example, you could pop the question at the summit of a mountain on your next hike. Or if you both like to sail or something, you could ask her on a boat. Stick with what you both like to do. And PLEASE don't do any of that crap with the trail of rose petals she has to follow, or a big box with a smaller box in it, etc. until she gets to the ring, or I'll be barfing long-dostance in Colorado, LOL.

you could take her out to dinner, and make it a specila place. Not an expensive place, but maybe somewhere that has some good memories for the two of you. Then you could go somewhere quiet where you would be able to talk and be alone. then you could ask her. I hope everything goes well!! Congrats and Good Luck!!

I think when a man proposes in the most unlikely way, such as when its morning you put the ring on the side next to bed with a note or poem with her favourite flowers. Then you ask her and put ring on her finger.
