Sonic booms at low altitude can be damaging to some building with old windows, and plate glass.
Disregard some answers, It is not illegal to fly Supersonic.
There are a lot of restrictions. Have to have ACT clearance for tactical flight, in designate areas, above set altitudes.
I worked at Warner-Robins Air Logistics Center on F-15s. During test flights, they would go Supersonic almost everyday. Just at high altitude. You could hear sonic booms on a regular basis.
I now work at Ogling AFB, where they usually go out over the Gulf before going supersonic.

Because when they exceed the speed of sound, they produce a sonic boom. While it may be exciting, it would probably wreck havoc on buildings that are close by. It is also illegal in the U.S. to fly at supersonic speeds over populated areas.
If you feel that two aircraft flying at each other and passing by within 10 feet of the other one is boring, then you should probably not go to anymore airshows.

Not allowed to.
Safety is the first concern of any air show.
The damage from a low level shockwave would be considerable.
