No sense of humor as normal. I have told that joke to Marines and Navy guys. They found it fuuny as well.

And just to set the record straight, I have 18 years Active Duty Army, and am now counting down the days before I can retire. And you have to admit it did bring a slight smile to your face.

Thanks PRC47 I forgot about that one. I will bring it up at a later date. Anyone have a good Army joke? How about an EOD Joke? I can always use those.

Come on MAX your going to die early unless you calm down a bit. It's ok to laugh a little because the world is not out to get you. Alex, come on now. I really don't care for Halo, and I can't play it very well. I tried to play Halo 2 when I was not running EOD missions out of Tala Far, or Mosoul and I just couldn't get into it. The young guys in the unit kept kicking my *** in it so I just quit trying.

Ha ha - very funny. I'd like to see you say that to a Marines face rather than thinking you are SO hilarious hiding behind Answers and making this ignorant comment.

+1 to Shayna. You can call a Marine a lot of things, I wouldn't recommend calling one a sheep though. Not when he or any other Marine is in earshot anyway. It's not a big deal, you're not going to hurt anyone's feelings, we all know you're just in a bad mood from staying up all night playing Halo 3 in your mom's basement. To actually answer your question, originally Marines provided ship security for the Navy. Now, Navy Master at Arms and the ship's security force takes care of it. The Navy also serves to transport the Marines and their equipment. Some ships still have jarheads attached for shipboard security however that doesn't really occur on small boys.

OUCH... I'm ex-Navy, and wouldn't use that joke within the hearing of a Marine.

Just FYI, today, the only ships on which Marines are "ships-company" are the carriers and the amphibs. They provide security and reaction force on the carrier, and on the amphib they are liason between the ship and the embarked Marines.

My FAVORITE Marine joke:

The Army calls helicopters "choppers"... the Air Force calls them "whirlybirds"... the Navy calls them "Helos"... your average Marine just points at the sky and goes "ooooh ooooh ooooh oooooh" !!

And chances are your lazy butt never served in any branch. If you didn't know that the Marines were first "created" as a member of the Dept of the Navy and used for security, then you're probably too stupid to have been allowed in the military in the first place... so it's probably not your fault... I'm sure we can find someone to blame for your stupidity since I'm sure you would never take on that responsibility!!!

OK... I counted back from 10 and I feel better... thanks and sorry for busting your butt. I didn't know you served so it's OK for you to poke the fun. I just get pissed at civilian non-hackers poking the fun!

because the marine corp is a department of the navy. The sectary of the navy is in our chain of command. We go on ships so we could get to the fight asap if we are needed somewhere. We just wait for trouble to happen coz we are ready. It is called a MEU Marine Expeditionary Unit

I see this was meant as a joke so for any one who don't know.the Marines have been assn.to ships when the Navy was 1st organized As an armed guard and sharp shooters for boarding party's.at sea.and in to day's Navy they take care of the of the Admiral & outher Officers. You know SEA GOING BELLHOPS.
