Yes I believe it can be seen as bad karma. It would mean that not only are you depriving the mosquito of food but you are also harming another being and taking away it's earthly form. You never know if that soul was once another human.
But I believe that if it's an accident and you are truely sorry for it then I believe that it will have less of an effect on karma
Also if you have already have been bitten by the mosquito there's no point in killing it because the poison which makes us itchy has already entered your blood stream.
The easy answer would be to wear bug repellent that repels the mosquitoes but doesn't kill them so that they don't bite you and you don't need to kill them.

If you are a Jain, yes, a Buddhist or Hindu, maybe ,or most everybody else,no.
If mosquitoes carry a disease like malaria ,which kills millions of people and other mammals yearly, or dengue or another fatal, deforming, debilitating or tormenting diseases, then from my philisophical perspective( which has a 'hierarchy of life "with human life and welfare first and highest on earth and mosquitoes way down on the list) all should be done to kill off mosquitoes in a manner safe to humans and other useful and higher life forms where mosquitoes are in the vicinity of humans,cattle,etc..

The physical acts that we perform are not Karma's. The mental acts that we perform are the Karma's and are noticed by the God.
You can set out and kill the whole world, but if your mind and heart are on your target ie God (Krishn to me), you will achieve success.
On the other hand you may be doing one 'benevolent' act after another for all your lifetime, but remain obsessed in the thoughts of the materialistic pleasures or fame, you will get only disappointed.
Physical acts are not important, mental acts are. That is spiritually speaking.

So is it also bad to kill a lion if it attempts to eat us? After all, it's just seeking out food as well. Mosquito bites are annoying, sometimes even painful. We have the right to protect ourselves from threats both large and small.

I think its bad karma to get mosquito bites. If they could just take the blood, that wouldn't be so bad. But they leave that poison that itches and makes you miserable.
I think enough of them get away with it. I probably don't manage to kill 1 in 10.
The ones that get hit are the mosquitoes with bad karma. They were probably politicians in a former life.

Making yourself alive in this world is a wider karma. God has no given you this life to spend feeding blood to mosquitoes.
If you kill the mosquitoes, it is their destiny, God ordered.

hello hermit
yes, you are right its consider a bad karma to those who believe in it but god also gave us the instincts to protect ourselves, sometimes when we feel the bite and our first instinct is to smack the area by doing so killing the mosquito. i think the second major reason why we kill them is because we know they carry disease. sorry that its not a philosophical perspective like you wanted.
all the best *=), ***SaNam***

Well..on one hand, you can consider them to have life and not kill them because of that factor, but from the perspective of a christian; (which I'm not, but I'm unsure of your religion.) God gave us dominion over animals, so it is basically our right to kill them. Personally, I would say no, it is not bad Karma, because they do us harm, so it could be considered self defense. Of course, there's the option of shoo-ing them away to feed on something else. Really, it's up to what you believe; If you think it's bad karma, don't do it. But if you think it wouldn't matter, go ahead and kill them.

Too bad you are taking lives of the insects God created.
According to Animal activists you should breed and let them free so that they suck the blood out of humans and cause diseases and human being die and no one cares for human lives in poor countries. Not only mosquitoes but dogs and cats are a protected species but human beings are not. You can kill several with one pull of a button in the holy and unholy wars that are going on in the world.

mosquittoes , bed bugs, lice , bugs of animals are the reincarnation of the bad souls that have committed sins in thier previous birth and ther karma has subjected them to the torture that they have been inflicitng on others. You must know that failure to perform one's duty to prevent the commission of sins by others in you presence is as bad a karma as committing a sin wilfully.Nature has caiused the mosquittoes , bugs to depend on the bloodof others and spread diseases so that the moment they bite those who are bitten shoud kill them.itis the dutyof persons to ensure that these vreatures do mnt dpresd disease and bite people who are not harming them.any human being wihtsome common sense and ans socia;l responsiblity shall immediately act and porforn his sacred duty of killing those who are out to kill innocent and harless people .this one should perfom as a sacrifice to god without expecting any reward .Failure to do that duty will be a sin against humanity.
Read Bhagavad -Gita toknmow moe about the performance of yu r duty,.your killin gthe body of the bugs elieves them of the burden of thier karma and enables them to return to the parmatma and wash hteir past karma. So yu are only blessing the bad soul and relievig it of the burden of its bad karma.I thnk hat this much ois enough for the present . I shall welcome many such questions so that i can give them aswers from the Hindu philosophical angels to enlighten the people about the principles underlying it .
