I'd love to understand a couple of them better. Is there a book at the Christian book store, that explains their meanings better? OR... do you think the Lord has to give us that understanding?
Non-believers needn't respond. Thanks.

Thanks, D!
Many of you have Great responses !
Sometimes to choose the "best" answer is difficult, when nobody's actually "wrong" in their response to a question.

Really great answers! Still hard to choose the "best" answer:
Scholarly Bible; using Internet; praying for clarification; being aware of personal interpretations by others.
P.S. Thanks, Peter.
I thank you all for writing.
God is good!! Thanks be to Him!
Renew our hearts, today, Lord. Amen.

I think The Lord will give us that understanding. Ask and you shall recieve, Seek and you will find, Knock and the door will be opened for you! I too would Love to understand them better. I hope this could help you, I haven't started reading it yet, but, I have a book (Devotions for every day of the year) It's titled "His Parables, The Most Moving Words Ever Written About the Parables of Jesus ". It's written by Integrity publishers/2005 (www.integritypublishers.com). It is on the site, I checked for you. I read a devotional ("Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young. from them last year and I'm reading it again this year and I loved it. It helped me. GOD Bless you in all you do and I hope you find the answers that you're looking for. Amen!

I have studied the parables, yes. I'm sure there are many many books about them.
Thing is, all a book can tell you is the opinion of the person who wrote the book...what he thinks Jesus may have meant by this or that parable.
Actually, I do believe with all my soul that the Lord has to give us that understanding.
I do hope you find what you are seeking!
God bless!!

Try a Christian bookstore, and ask the clerk.
For example, on the parable of the weeds:
(Matthew 13:37-43)
The good seed is the word of god, of which Jesus was sent to establish. He planted the seed (the word of god) here on earth and the sons of the kingdom are those of us who believe in the word of god. The weeds (which sprouted up among the good seeds/believers) are those who do not believe or accept the word of god. They are the children of the devil who try and choke out the word of god. The harvest is the end of time of which Jesus will send his angels down to earth, to rid the world of the "weeds" that cause sin and everyone who does evil. The righteous/believers will shine for god afterward.
However, this is just my interpretation and not to be taken literally.

Where can I find books on Jesus?
Library, Barnes and Noble.
The Lord wants you to buy them at a bookstore or borrow them from a library. Either that or go to church I guess, it's really your decision. The only person that can give things to us is ourselves.

I don't know if there are books explaining them, but what I do is read them over and over again, and lookup words I don't know in a dictionary and then read the parable again. I understand them the more I read so, maybe you could read them more. Good Luck and God Bless
