My question contains two parts...and basically addressed to non-Muslims .........

1- If Mohammad is said to have authored Quran as many non-Muslims believe then why with so much of influence on the people and with so much absolute power in his hand and ample opportunity, didn't portray himself as GOD while smaller people like Satya Sai baba, Osho Rajnish, Jai Gurudev presented themselves as gods ?

2- If you were in place of Mohammad, could you be able to deny yourself with such a status ?

Jesus never claimed to be the God or son of God. It is the invention of Church which was introduced in the Bible. And Quran rightly says that Jesus was one of the great prophets.
And your remark is derogatory.........

Islam is the practical religion and does not support and propagate miracles. if ANY MIRACLE ISLAM HAS EVER PRODUCED.............IT IS QURAN.

"... But the Meccans still demanded of him [Muhammad] a miracle, and with remarkable boldness and self-confidence Mohammad appealed as the supreme confirmation of his mission to the Koran itself. Like all Arabs they were connoisseurs of language and rhetoric. Well then, IF KORAN WERE HIS OWN COMPOSITION OTHER MEN COULD RIVAL IT. If they could not [ and it is obvious that they could not ], then let them accept the Koran as an outstanding evidencial miracle."--[Mohammadanism, An Historical Survey, by HAMILTON A.R.GIBB, pg-40]

SHAMI...........

Since Mohammad was an illiterate, he will memorise the revealed surah and repeat it to his fellowmen who would either write it on different materials or would memorise it.

Abu Bakr, the first Muslim leader after Muhammad's death, asked Zaid ibn Thabit to collect all the different writing materials on which the Quran was written down.

Some versus were also recollected through recital.

And to do away with any differences Uthman [Usman] codified and wrote down the text. Uthman also commissioned a committee (including Zayd and several prominent members) to produce a standard copy of the text.

The Quran so compiled was finalised by Uthman and accepted generally.

From what you see in every day life it is easy to predict that had you been in his place you would have opted for the ultimate chair, like Satya Sai Baba, Jaiguru Dev, Rajnish osho etc.

Life in Arab peninsula was horrible before Mohammad if you care to study History. There was no unity, no rules, females were to be burried alive at the time of birth, violence was prevailing, no religion, no duties, no rights and the society was just a mess.It was Mohammad who made it possible. As for revelation of Quran plz read add. details given to SHAMI above.

"The muslims could perform that unparalleled feat of the theological rascocination because, "...the monotheism of Mohammad was the most absolute and comparatively the freest from mythical adulterations."--[The History of Materealism by F.A.Lange, vol-I, pg-184]

Hello everyone especially my non-muslim friends..You have tried hard to answer this question whether the Quran was written by prophet Mohammed(pbuh) or why he didnt claim divinity. But has any on you read the Quran. If not please read it first only with an open mind without any pre-concieved notions, then you will come to know the truth. One question I want to ask is if the Quran was a work of fiction, how can there be so many scientific facts in the Quran which were totally unknow at that time ????? there is no answer for that except that God the Creator has sent it as His message to mankind. May peace be on all.

Having read the Quran Sira and Hadith the reason that Mohammad did not call himself the divinity is really simple and straight forward. It's easier to believe that a deity exists than the author of the fiction (Mohammad) came up with the utter non-sense which exists in the trilogy. There are claims that Mohammad was not illiterate for having been a merchant, however, this does not change that given the many inconsistencies within the quran (sira is about his life and hadith is a collection of what others have said of Mohammad).

The Moslems tell you that you need to read the book for yourself. Yes you should. To help you along the way the order that the chapters exist in the quran are not the order they were authored and are arranged in this fashion to soften the violence in this thriller, soft-****, savage book.

With these books you can make your own rulings and have them be perfectly sound. Take a collection of verses, a dash of sira, through in related entries from the hadith and presto you have your very own fatwa suitable for hanging or crucifying your neighbors.

Mohammad was a righteous man whom Allah chose to reveal the 'Holy Koran'. The 'Holy Koran' is not a book of fiction, it is the scripture that ordains a society based upon truth, wisdom, righteousness, justice and equality. One needs a high intellectual faculty to understand the true meaning of the 'Holy Koran'. Mohammad never claimed any greatness for himself, he only tried to establish the 'Islamic State' at Medina before he could take over the 'Mecca'. Mohammad was simply made an important instrument to establish 'Niza-me-Rabubiat'. And today you can see the results of his divine work for yourself as more than 2 billion Muslims all over the world look upon the 'Kaaba' and the 'Holy Koran' as their spiritual, religious and social guides. What more proof does any one wants that 'Holy Koran' is not a work of fiction created by Mohammad. Prophet Mohammad did not even know how to read or write. Each holy Surah as revealed in the Holy Koran is a divine revelation, had this not been the case why should so many people around the world would to this day believe in it. Isn't this fact a miracle in itself.

i might believe quran is real, but there was no pen and paper at that time people used to remember it and pass it on to other generations. if u start a topic in a room full of people by the time it reaches to the last person it will be completly changed, so imagin how quran has been changed passing from generations that also in arab people(no offends but in todays times they r so conservative imagin 100 years ago!)
i dont think it should be a manual for living ur life but no harm in reading and learning the good things of it.

Because Muhammad did not write the Quran..... God(SWT) did.... Muhammad(s) just spreaded God's(SWT) words of the Quran to his people.... that's why Muhammad(s) is called the messenger and not God.... is that clear to you??(im not being mean to you or anything im just saying does it make sense)

Definitely.

If I claim to be a prophet and things do not go the way I had planned, then I can blame other people's lack of faith in god for messing things up.

If I claim I am an omnipotent god then it is going to be hard to come up with an excuse when things go pear shaped.

A prophet is the ideal position. Authority without responsibility.

Because Quran is not the work of fiction, so Muhammad didn't present himself as God

Firstly, this is a hypothetical question, which is not justified, in terms of "the Final revelation of God'.
Secondly, the Quran has challehged people to bring out one chapter like its.Over a period of 1,400 years no one has accepted that challenge.
Thirdly, Prophet Muhamed has told people
many times that he was only "the Messenger of Allah".
Fourthly, our"Kalima"clearly depicts the relations between God and man.It reads :
"There is no god worthy of worship, except
Allah.Muhamed is the messenger of Allah."
From this it follows:-
1. There is only ONE God called 'Allah',
worthy of worshipping.
2. God is God, He need not come to earth
as His own son, or man or anyother form.
3. Man, however highly rated even by God,
and even granted audience by Him,
the latter continues to be a Man only, and
not otherwise!

Mohammed didn't write the Koran, any more than Jesus wrote the New Testament. The Koran was assembled after his death, largely by going to people who had heard him speak and writing down what they remembered of what he said.

No way! It'd be too easy to disprove with a knife!

Most of the Quran was cribbed from the Gnostic Gospels. But its biggest problem is that it disputes the very POINT of Salvation. The Old Testament looks forward to the Messiah. The New Testament demonstrates that Jesus IS that Messiah. But the Quran disputes Jesus' very words, claiming that He is NOT God incarnate, and further, claiming that the Crucifixion, and therefore Salvation, never occurred. This fits only ONE agenda, that of Satan himself.
