Actually the teaching was to new gentile Christians about how to handle themselves around their Jewish believers without offending them.

I am pasting these verses from the message bible so that is appears clearer.

The OT was before there were any Early Christians at all.
Check out PS14:4; :Is 49:26; Micah3:3; Sm 23:15-17;

NT Acts' Council of Jerusalem urged even Gentile converts not to 'consume blood" and to refrain from"strangulation" which could mean observing the Noachide(Noah's) dietary laws (no eating animal blood or strangled animals or road-kills and ,of course,no cannibalism) or these could mean no taking of human life by blood she, strangulation of any mode of murder

Most Christian groups do not think that Christians are bound by these dietary laws(except for most cases of cannibalism) and can eat hamburgers 'blood'steaks,"blood pudding' and non kosher butchering. Transfusions are permitted and even encouraged by most Christian groups

Christians "consumed blood",the Blood of Christ, in the Eucharist under the sign of wine in the Eucharist( see John 6:35-71,1 Cor 10:16,1 Cor11:22-29).

In John 6 Jesus is clearly talking about His actual Blood and Flesh "munched on" and drunk since He does not call back those repelled by the thought of the actual and literal Real Presencein Holy Communion by interpreting the words poeticall and symbolically. Instead Jesus confronts the Apostles with "Will you too also leave."

The testimony of the Early Church Fathers is unamimous in supporting the Catholic/Orthodx teaching on the Eucharistic Real Presence.

The drinking of blood is forbidden throughout the Bible. See Genesis 9:4; Leviticus 7:26; 17:10-14; Acts 15:28-29. As seen in the Acts passage, even the Gentile Christians after the resurrection of Christ were to abstain from eating blood. If Christ was asking believers to eat His flesh and blood, He would be going against the clear teaching of scripture in numerous places.

In the passage in John 6, Christ clearly told them that He was speaking in a spiritual and not a literal sense. Verse 63 states, "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." Here, He tells them that the flesh profits nothing and that He is referring to the spirit and not to the flesh.

These are not my words but those of Pastor David Reagan,

I would love to take the credit, it's just that he said it best.

May all Glory be to God for he alone deserves our praise.

Good luck with that, because you will not find Christianity in the Old Testament. The term "Christian" doesn't appear until Paul's writings in the New Testament. And i doubt you will find anything about Hebrews or Jews eating or drinking blood in the Old Testament. Ceremonial law states that all blood should be drained from animals (kosher).

For Jewish people back then, the blood was the life of the person/animal. To drink it was taboo. That's why kosher meat is drained of all the blood first.

I doubt since most were converts of Judaism that early Christians would have drinken blood.

The Romans made up stories about christians and jews eating and drinking blood.

The Christians would do the same thing once they were in power by making up stories of "pagans".

The majority always demonizes the minority.

The old testament does have some reference to the ancient human sacrifice involved in christianity though.

It is a lot deeper than just symbolic cannibalism and if you cannot understand it even practicing it will not do anything for your salvation. And if you have no mind to know anything but just call it symbolic cannibalism to mock it you can never understand. @Revolutionary Maniac It was Jesus himself who said not to cast our pearls before swine, meaning if someone is just out to mock Christ you cannot give a full explanation. If the asker actually has a mind to know they would not have asked in such a clearly mocking trollish manner. But I gave an answer that it has major symbolism and that even those who keep it without understanding need to develop an understanding of it. And if the asker truly cares about the answer they can demonstrate it. Basically the answer is it is a deep symbolism that has multiple meanings that we need to follow, not just cannibalism. If you are busy calling the teacher stupid can you learn?

It would most likely be in Deuteronomy or Leviticus where the laws are explained. They did not drink blood, it was just saying they should drain all the blood before cooking the meat.

No. There were accusations by those who hated them, but it never really happened. Eating Christ's Body and Blood has always been in the form of Bread and Wine.
