By Iran, do you mean the people, the mullahs or the president? And for that matter, who DOES speak for Islam? The House of Saud? The Wahabis? The Taliban? Depending on which Muslim you ask, you will get a different answer. Which is the "true" Islam, Sunna or Shia? I mistrust anyone who presumes to represent an entire faith. People are not robots and Islam is not all one thing.

I judge Islam through the way it's people react to world events. So far...not very good. Whether it's the cheering in the streets after 9/11, or the noticeable silence when condemnation of terrorist acts is required, the people of Islam, and especially their religious leaders, are failing in their duty. The Catholic priests in my country were the first to condemn the invasion of Iraq, from the Parish priest to the Archbishop.

Iran has the highest Shia muslim population in the world but they are certainly not the center/hub of shia islam. But they are the hub of Twelver Shia Islam no doubt on that one. But Iraq is no doubt the center and founding place of Shia Islam. It's home to some of Shia islam's most holiest mosque and the final resting place of many descendants of Ali. This is coming from a Shia.

yes i know they don't like being called arab.
in fact, they want to be known as persians. perhaps they know very well about their origins and also that at one time they were converted to islam either by force or through brain wash.
beside there are still some people who still believe in Zoroastrianism in iran.

Part of the deal to set up a new government was that Irag would slowly convert to Christianity. To be in the clan you must be "under God" meaning Jesus.
