Let's say there's a guy caught on video tape robbing a store, then shooting the clerk to death and running off. Let's say he's caught, and brought to trial. There's no mistaking he's guilty. They have the video, they found the gun, they found the money he stole. But the judge says "You know what, I love you, so I guess since I'm so loving, you can just go home. Case dismissed!" Did the judge perform justice, or did he perform injustice? The public would be outraged, they'd say this judge had to be removed from the bench. Justice was not served.
In the same case, God is even more just than any judge on earth. God is holy. God is perfect. He says in His word, the bible, that we'll be held accountable, even for every idle word we speak. God's standard is perfection. His standard is the 10 commandments. Ever lied? Stolen? Looked with lust? Hated someone? Even one sin goes against God's perfect nature. God will punish murderers. God will punish rapists and child killers. God will also punish thieves, liars and adulterers. His punishment for sin is a place called hell, and the bible says that "all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God."
But God is rich in mercy. He did provide a way for all to be forgiven. He can forgive, because someone has already paid the fine. Someone has stepped in our place. We deserve wrath, but we can receive grace, through faith. That's what Jesus did. We've broken the law, he paid our fine. God's justice has been fulfilled. We can receive God's gift of salvation, when we confess and turn from sin (repentance), and trust in Christ alone (faith).

God may be loving and forgiving, but there are some who just can't go to heaven. Say you had a child and someone brutally murdered that child, would they deserve to go to heaven? Would God, because you say He is loving and forgiving, have to let that person in?
Hell is for those who chose to be evil even after they've felt the loving and forgiving nature of God.

Hell was never created for Humans. God doesn't want any of his children to be cast into Hell, however, Hell does exist and it is the wager that one must pay for the rejection of the Lord Jesus Christ. It's a choice, choose Christ now or Hell later. Simple as that.
God is loving forgiving and caring, I'll leave your last word out for argument sake. However that is the God that we know on Earth. The God that you will meet in Heaven is not, if you are laying in front of him on your face, having denied Jesus Christ during your short existence on this Earth, than Jesus Christ shall deny you in Heaven. You will not meet a merciful, God, you will meet his wraith. It will be swift and just, no mercy shall be shown.

Hell cannot exist and if there is a loving God running the show.
If God created all things, then that includes punishment and justice. Which means he decided that torture was a just punishment for disbelief. Is that Loving?

I (incorrectly) thought the Egyptisans believed that, if you weren't good enough to go their version of an afterlife, your soul was eaten by some crocodile-hippo monster and you simply ceased to exist. (It turns out that your 'heart' was a seperate being entirely and wandered throughout eternity w/o a body to enter-reincarnate to.)
I thought ceasing to exist was a much more pleasant alternative to eternal torture. I think when the Bible Hell (NT, the OT one 'sheol' meant 'the grave') was being created, the guys who defined it had 'issues'.
(BTW, ceasing to exist as opposed to a heven alternative is a choice)
Edit: Hell is just!?
