Well, let's see about that... you believe that a cosmic Jewish zombie, who is his own father, can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced, by a talking snake with legs, to eat a piece of fruit from a magical tree... (etc.)... and that there is something horribly wrong with people who ARE NOT so gullible and droolingly stupid as to believe such outrageously ridiculous codswallop.
Well... dang... you're absolutely right... it WOULD be illogical to deny that. ^^^whap^^^ (smacks self in forehead)... how could I have ever missed seeing that?

An example?
Oh! Is that it - denying the existence of God? I see nothing necessarily inconsistent about denying the existence of God. Belief, disbelief and agnosticism are perfectly logical.
Learn what "logic" means.
"Logic is about consistency - but not about all types of consistency. For example, if a man supports Arsenal one day and Spurs the next, then he is fickle but not necessarily illogical. If a legal system helps the rich but not the poor then it is unjust but not illogical. The type of consistency which concerns logicians is not loyalty or justice or sincerity, it is compatibility of beliefs. Logic, therefore, involves studying the situations in which a particular sentence is true or false, and the rules that determine whether a given argument is valid or invalid." Part synopsis for "Logic" by Wilfred Hodges.

I think a lot of Christians don't realize how arrogant they can come off sounding. That will get an emotional reaction every time.
Christians need to stop and think, if a person of a another religion just used the same words at them (or nearly the same) as they did, how would they feel?
You don't start a logical discussion by proclaiming the truth of a conclusion you've already arrived at, or by judging others, or by looking down your nose at them, all of which you've done here. Were you aware of this? What did you think people would say?
Christians really need to learn to think before they speak. Snarky in, snarky out.

Oh you found me out. I totally go around all day long hating something that I have no proof even exists. I just love to waste my time like that.
Since all the facts we get from Christians are "It's in the bible, which is the word of god, which makes it totally true and infallible", where are the merits? Where's the critical thinking on the behalf of the theist in the equation? And don't even try to tell me that theists don't ever just respond emotionally. Out of all of you people on here, only a few ever try to really discuss and illuminate their points without resorting to copying and pasting scripture.
When you do yourself what you accuse others of doing, it makes Jesus cry.

Sounds like you are a bit mixed up.
You rely on faith for belief, not logic or evidence.
It is not illogical to to deny the existence of God at all.
Making a claim like that shows you are a little confused about logic. You might see nature and make an assumption that it was created, but that is just an assumption, and not a logical argument.

It's funny, I've had the exact opposite experience! I found that believers were extremely emotional when questioned about their faith but atheists could explain their point of view with valid arguments.
How is it illogical to deny the existence of God??? what scientific proof do you have?
I believe in God because that's what I feel in my deeper core but I don't have any way to prove his/her existence. That's what Faith is, to believe in something you cannot prove. (don't say the Bible, it's not a proven source).
Atheists believe that life was created at random (and yes, you can "start" life in a laboratory at the microbial level) and that when your body dies, your mind dies with it since your brain decomposes (this is a very simplistic explaination, maybe an atheist could explain better).
Atheists are generally, (not always), more scientifically minded, I've never met one who was "angry", frustrated that people want to impose their belief on them maybe, but not angry. Furthermore quantum physics tend to prove the existence of God (as much as it can be proven), more Atheist are becoming believers as they learn about quantum physics, many great books about that.

Instead of ranting why not tell us the logic behind believing in God, that way we can actually have a healthy debate on the logic behind both.
I'm not an Atheist, but it seems that asking a close ended question will not get you very far in this forum.

Are you talking about atheists or christians?
If you reverse your statement, it could just as easily be about Christians who often react as though they are being attacked and persecuted because others do not believe in God and call the Bible a fiction book.

And all Republicans are members of the Communist party.
Anyone can make a wild baseless allegation.
Now how about some facts to back up that diatribe?
Or are you some pathetic little troll shaking their fist at a universe that will not change to fit your preconceptions?

They are not illogical, they simply have made different initial assumptions than you or me.
Don't assume that those who disagree with you are stupid or malevolent. It is a mistake all kind of people have done when communist thinks that all non communists are lackeys of the bourgeois or the communist just people filled with resentment they both make that very same mistake.
It's you the one being emotional now.
