I asked a few questions before, some people just did not get it, but that is not the issue here.
I am not american, I started my question saying "to my american friends" and then I typed the rest of the question.
Some of you answered " you are not my friend I do not know you", I only wanted to be nice, from my perspective answering in that way is kind of nasty, but I just seriously want to know if I call you my american friends does that bother you?
I do not want to make that mistake anymore, do you find that offesive or those people that said that to me are just nasty?

Edge no, I did not say that lol
No hate, it was a legitimate question.
I asked about the origins of an american
slang word.

The Americans that took offense to the saying obviously have their panties in a bind and should stay off the Internet. It was a nasty comment from them and they should be ashamed of themselves!
America has a bad enough image in the world right now ans we don't need some ignorant fool to prove to the world that we are all like that...
I want to apologize to you for some fool making an A@@ out of him or herself.
Maybe someone took a crap in their cereal this morning.....

It depends on what follows the phrase. If you begin "to my American friends" and follow with an insulting or hostile question, I'm going to be a little offended. If what you ask comes across as a genuine request for information, then I wouldn't be offended in the least. But there are definitely some nasty people on here. I think the anonymity of the internet gives them license to behave badly.

Some people are just nasty. However if you said "To my American friends I hate you all" or any insult then yes I would say you are not my friend. But if it was "To my American friends what do you think of the Cincinnati bengals" then I would be fine with it.
Then I don't know why they would have a problem with it. Some people are just naturally grouchy.

You aren't being nasty, and I don't take offense.
I think you are just using a cultural term that isn't used here much.
Friendship, in the USA is taken very seriously because americans tend to be very private. Don't get too wrapped up in what people say over the internet.

Don't take ANYthing you read on the Internet too seriously.
Someone much wiser than I once said that, in order to prepare yourself for what the Internet is like, go down to your local middle school chess club and start handing out methamphetamines and guns...

Nope, it is not offensive. However, many people here are cynical and defensive because there are alot of people who come here for the sole reason of attacking other peoples' beliefs. Perhaps they think that you were being disingenuous when you called them "friends".
I wouldn't worry overly about it. Continue to "kill them with kindness" and eventually people will start to know you and stop being nasty to you. :-)

Indeed, those people that said that to you are just nasty.
It seems you are trying to be respectful. Don't let it bother you, as there are equally nice and nasty people on this forum.
Peace, my friend.

those people that said that to you do not understand God and His ways, they are influenced by this world and its ways. If they knew God they would know that His 10 commandments are love, the first 4 are about love for God, and the other six are for love for neighbor. One day this world will change wether we like it or not, my non-american friend.
