One thing that stands out to me about what you wrote is the use of the word 'need'. God doesn't 'need' anything, He's God. He has a nature to create.
So worship is not needed by God.
We need.
Why?
Because they are acts of faith. The acts of faith sets us right with Him for the time. We are basically communing with His nature which is in the world since Pentecost, to do the things described in John 16: 7 - 11.
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%2016:%207%20-%2011;&version=31;
In an analogy we are 'plugging in' to Him.
So by denying yourself worshiping of God, you are robbing yourself of that relationship which is so much a part of the relationship.
If the Bible is true about God, He likes to be worshiped.
I would liken it to an open house at a school. All the parents and students are there with the teacher, and your daughter stands up and begins to tell everyone there how much she loves you, without something written in front of her, uncoerced, unrehearsed, spontaneously.
How the parent would feel is like what God feels.

Who said that a ANY emotion is "negative"?
Love is not always good, and hate is not always bad; it depends on the context.
Why does God want to be worshiped? I don't really know, but consider this: what else can you possibility do for the deity who already has everything? God asks for so little of us, and we are too lazy to do even the little that he asks. Is a little expression of gratitude now and then too much to ask for a God who gave you existence, food, the ability to experience pleasure, health, etc.?

There are two types of Christians:
1. The religious types where religion defines them
2. The types that are Christians because it's just tradition
Pst, I'm the second one. Although I call myself a Christian, I'm not that religious. It's just that grandpa was, dad was, so I am too. I just use it as a guide to make me a better person. Also, for comfort during difficult times. I'm not the type that would get angry at you. To be honest, I use the Lord's name in vain quite a bit.
But, there are the super religious types that get angry. These are the types you run in to. It's because they take it word for word and its law to them. I'm not like those, but I respect them since we're the same religion. The types that, when they describe themselves, they say "first and foremost, I'm a Christian". I'm the type of guy that says, "I like to watch TV, read car magazines, go to the gym...oh and by the way, I'm a Christian".
So in all, not all Christians get upset. You're just hanging around the strong believers. But there's nothing wrong with their beliefs, just try to respect everyone's beliefs. Cool?

I don't know who would get upset at you for not worshiping God! I could see people just totally care about you and want to see you in Heaven and just don't know how to go about leading you to Christ. But that's not an excuse for anger. Our God is a jealous God - no doubt. But what's between you and Him is between you and Him... and hopefully we Christians don't get in his way.
Hopefully you are being blessed and can be patient if Christians don't show their love the right way. Be blessed!!

I guess what I heard today and have been meditating on was for you...
why worship God? In understanding 'election'..meaning the calling out of believers you have to grasp the idea that...of all creation...all that is, was and shall be, your name, your spirit was written down to be amongst those that would be among the elect. Not because you're so good or bad or worthy...but just BECAUSE. To believe in God is an ability that is impossible...without God giving it TO you. And ultimately, eternity isnt about you or me...its about a collective "Bride" being given unto Christ and He then in turn returning Himself and the Bride unto God..that they might be One. So to be amongst those who have the capacity to 'believe' and who are the chosen...is a...a...(trying to think of a worldly analogy) its like hitting a mega trillion lottery when the chances were a jillion to one you would win. For that election....the awesomeness of which is hard to fathom, it should evoke a humility in your soul that drives you to your face...in worship.

I won't get upset, just surprised.
What do you mean by worship? To me it is an answer of love to the love God first gave me.

Worship does not, simply, mean......bow down all day praising Him. Worship is when u walk, worship is when u talk, worship is when u stand 4 the Lord because u know HE fights your battles and you will fight 4 HIM! Worship is communing with Jesus.....letting HIM know where HE stands in your life...HE says everyday as HIS children grow, "There is more that I require of thee". In turn, HE is our Provider, our Keeper, our Way maker and our Stormbreaker---try HIM!

This is something that always amazes me. You say that God is jealous so He can't be perfect. But what you don't realize is that God is perfect- period. Anything that God is- jealous, angry, merciful- it is all perfect because it is part of God. We can't compare our human emotions to God. Whatever God does and whatever He is is the definition of perfect.

He deserves worship b/c without him you do not exist - without Him you dont have the ability to say I dont want to worship - if you fully understood the love He has for us and what He wants to do for us you couldn't help yourself but to worship Him

God refers to His church as HIs bride...He created us and we belong to Him....im sure you wouldnt be jealous if your wife acknowledged your prescence, yet devoted her life to the other things in this world....you would probably be like shes my wife, shes suppossed to spend time with me, love me...Gods the same way...we are His people
