We've already switched schools, unfortunately the bullying is continuing after school. It is to the point where we are unable to let are children go to the park and ride bikes and have fun with the other children in our area.
Aside from teaching them to kick these kid's butts (which I'd love to do, but know it won't help) or even better, sending my husband over to their house to kick THIER dad's butt, what do we do?
I've had one encounter with the "mother" and well, needless to say I know exactly why her children are they way they are. She's a complete MONSTER.
Any ideas?

You say the mother's a monster, so the kids are the same. Maybe the kids need another role model. You are going to hate this, but I say try to make friends with the bully kids. Invite them--the kids only, not the awful mother--over for cookies or hot dogs and talk to them in a friendly, non-threatening way. Always be polite and wave or speak nicely to them when you see them in the neighborhood. If the bullies like and respect you, they'll leave your kids alone.

SUE them.

If the children doing the bullying are of sufficient age, PRESS CRIMINAL CHARGES.

Sending the husband over to beat down the father would simply result in you becoming a single mother for several years.

Teach the children to defend themselves (and gain the self discipline to not use that knowledge outside of defending oneself or another), YES! If you can afford it, find a good dojo with a sensei who believes that the martial arts are for defense of oneslef or another, and will instill that value into the kids.

In the mean time, if you suspect that the mother may be abusive to her kids (hence the monster comment), call Child Family Services, or whatever it's called in your area and report her! Abusive parents raise abusive kids.

By the way...*most* bullies are first degree cowards, stand-up for yourself and make a fuss, they will back-down/run away...

i am sooooo sorry u're going thru this and ur'e child. call an attorney. i don't know anything else. see what action they suggest. going through the same thing, my child is alot younger. bullies are raised by bullies, so i wouldn't expect much there. one person told me to talk to the parents and let them know that a lawsuit would be initiated, but u first have to talk to the parents.

if u're going to do any butt kicking, make sure there aren't any cameras rolling. it's the parents of the bullied who try to help and defend their children that end up in jail. heard about 2 of them today. it's ridiculous.

it is sad to see that your children are being bullied so much that can't even play outside with their friends.

as far as what to, it sounds like you have taken the right steps, but nothing seems to work. your best bet then is to teach your kids self defense. or have your kids stand up to them, once these bullies see that they are no longer a threat to your kids they usually find someone else to pick on.

if things get really bad get the police involved that is what they are paid to do.

Martial arts. It is good exercise, discipline, and it teaches kids to stand up for themselves.
Not saying we should teach them to kick someone's butt, but they would be better able to defend themselves.

Yep..I'm with MG on this one.
Send them off to a martial arts class, it won't teach your kids to fight aggressively, but what it will do is make them confident in their ability to defend themselves if attacked.
Once the bullies see this, you can bet their bottom dollar they will back off!!!!!

Did you try talking to the school authorities, principal, police, etc.... Maybe they can help. I'd say if it's really bad where my child's life is in danger i'd move to another town.

The only thing you can do is to report it to the school authorities, then to the school board if no action is taken by the schools, and lastly to the police.

I would get the cops involved. This is harassment and that is what you would do if someone was doing this to you
