I mean to make a living off of your art?

The only time it is too late to become an artist is when you have allowed so many distractions in your life that you don't have the courage, strength or will power to change things so that you can create.

For example, my wife and I do everything we can to live simply and reduce cost so we can spend more time on our work. We are deliberately not having children, we live in a small, but cozy, apartment (no mortgage) and have only one car. We are willing to make those sacrifices because her studies (film student) and my work (writer and painter) are far more important than starting a family or struggling to keep hold of a 4,000 sq. ft. house.

If this is truly your passion, then it is never too late, but it may be too early.
By this l mean is it really what you want to do? First of all, you might ask yourself why are you going to "become"...you dont need permission from anyone but yourself. So if you are an artist, then own it.
Now you can explore creative ways in which you can lauch your "artistry". After all, there is an abundance of ways to make money by investing very little money. The object could be to just get a reputation. You might start with decorating canvas bags. Recently, l was in a very exclusive store and the purses were selling a LOT of money, since they are art!
So if you have a talent that will inspire others, just own it and give, and you will recieve! I dubb you an artist! Jennifer Noble, LifeSuccess Consultant

Art should always be in the eye of the beholder. If you produce art that you love and the majority of the masses also happen to love it so that you could make a living, it doesn't matter how old you are. Ansel Adams took some very notable photographs well into his 50's.
Many artists painted, drew, sculpted and took photographs until they died. If anyone says your too old, it's the same as saying you're not good, and you should always prove them wrong.

The only time it will be too late is...when YOU are no more. People all over the world, throughout history, have found something inside them, to create art. Even beginning in later stages of life, AND made a living at it. It is all within oneself.

A woman came into my art supplies store saying she had put off her love of art for too long... she put it off while she'd gone to university, then had a family, then became involved in her career... suddenly she discovered she was nearly eighty and didn't want to wait any longer.

She was looking for something she could draw with that she could SEE... she had only 10% vision left in one eye and was completely blind in the other. She shook her bony finger at me with a grin, and said "Don't you put it off either, dear - one day it may be too late!"

THAT was a wake-up call. I admired her courage - she went away with some brightly coloured watercolour pencils, happy as a clam (and pleased that she'd taught me a lesson too!)

it is never too late...even if you do not make a decent living, art is something to fill in the holes in your soul left by "modern" living.
