Christians are in the middle of a war against Satan right? Therefore it could be considered appropriate that the soldiers of God put on their 'armour' which is symbolism for faith. The rest of the military references don't match with the Bible, for the Army of God and Jesus are the angels. Christians are just supposed to stand witness to all these things and not get 'killed' by the enemy.
