Ok I have the litter boxes in the garage in a dog cage butted up to the door with a doggie door so they are protected from the dogs harrassing them while they use the litter box but I have one cat who refuses to go out there he would rather go under the fish tank or behind the couch or at the base of the cat tree. GRRRRRR any suggesstions we are in the process of boarding up the back of the fish tank and lockin gup the cabinets cause he actually opens the cabinets instead of walking thru the back that is open(dingbat) He is a great cat and very sweet but I can't steam clean every day.

i have the litter boxes outside in the garage because I have 3 cats and dont want the smell, I cant put it outside any where cause they are STRICTLY indoor cats the other two use it no problem I think he has never been trained to use one because we took in him and his sister and his sister used to pee right in the middle of the floor we found his sister a home where she was the only cat and she was fine. He used to use the litter box alright not consistently but he has pretty much stopped what worse is he doesn't do his business in front of me I had one that would wait till I was looking at him and he would pee on the couch he went to the vet and had a uti. But this one has a clean bill of health no problems just would rather use inside than out. I have heard they dont like pine sent or amonia so that I can put small caps with amonia in them where I dont want him to go or pine cones. Does this work?

well try putting the litter box somewhere else.. he prolly doesnt like going in the garage bcuz of the dogs. even though you have it so they cant bother him, but just hearing the dogs bark, might scare him. so put the litter box in side somewhere.. like if you have a basement..that works, or a porch. somewhere where the dogs cant see them cats and make them bark. and show him that he can go potty in it... like put him in a clean litter box..and make him stay in it...or when u see him going to go pee or something pick him up and stop him from doing it and put him in the litter box.

Your cat is trying to tell you something. When they are unhappy, they let their owners know in strange ways
