Should fosamax be taken for only 5 years?

I have been taking fosamax for 7 years, although I have GERD.
Now my doctor says new information says you shouldn't take it for more than 5 years

Follow your doctors advice. As drugs are on the market for a longer time, more problems come to light. There are other things you can take to replace the Fosamax.
